Looks like there are alot of new cars coming out in 2006. More competition for the sedans this year and more HP. Heck even the Altima is coming out with a 250HP engine option. The new Dodge Charger looks like a fun car and its affordable at $29,995 and has a HEMI with 340HP.

Dodge Charger R/T

340-HP 5.7L HEMI® V8 w/Multi-Displacement System
Electronic Stability Program & All-speed traction control
Performance 4-wheel disc ABS
18" polished aluminum wheels
Leather Seats
Boston Acoustics sound system

I just hope the 2007 CTS will be more powerfull since everyone else has boosted their HP and so far the Cadillac CTS has stayed the same. Even Toyota has their Avalon up to 268HP.

Either GM drops the price on the V, (not gonna happen), or give the CTS more hp...and real soon...O.K., so we got the whole "break through" concept...now that you've broken through, you don't stop, you keep leading the pack..I hope they don't drop the ball on this...I think I can wait for the new version of CTS's and then get a V....at 400 plus hp you should be o.k...then again, maybe not....

I wouldn't worry, the next CTS will get more horsepower, but when is enough enough? Do we keep pushing the HP limit higher and higher? Will the day come when your garden variety sedan has 400hp?

Looking at the past 10-15 years, I think 400+ hp for an average lux vehicle may not be very uncommon.

Back in the 90's BMW, Lexus, and Benz rarely had sports cars that topped 300+ hp.

Cars are getting increased performance and efficiency. I'm looking forward for what the future brings.

At 4100 pounds, the Charger is pretty heavy so it needs that much horsepower to move. Yes more power is cooler, but is it better? Not if gas prices continue their upward spiral. You cannot make that much power on regular unleaded. The '06 models were brought to market at least two years ago when the fuel demand was in a different place. If anything, we are going to see manufacturers backing off high power for more efficiency because consumers will demand it. People are already abandoning gas guzzlers for more modest and efficient cars, the trend will only continue.

Some of us bought the CTS because it had a V6 instead of a V8. As much fun as a CTS-V would have been, I just didn't want to feed it. The times that I would actually use the power of the CTS-V or it's competitors are so few that it is just silly to invest in so much waste. Sure there are people to whom these issues are beneath notice, but the public at large is going to be demanding more efficiency and less raw power. We are back to 70's when all the muscle cars were neutered so they wouldn't be as gas hungry. It is sad but true. Thankfully, I got in while the getting was good!

i changed my order from the CTS with the 2.8 to the Charger R/T with the 5.7. I saved over two grand doing that and iam still getting all the things i wanted from the CTS in the Charger. Also with the Charger it has that MDS that shuts down 4 cylinders, gets like 17/25mph.....same as what the CTS is said to get. Also runs about 14.3 stock in the 1/4 hehe.

Forgive me for i have sinned....
2006 Charger R/T black on black with the track pack!
:devilheh: You "might" be forgiven my son....

Chrysler has some of the most innovative cars on the road today. I can't say I really like them, Chrysler 300, Magnum, Charger, etc. They're bold and different. I like their concept. However, we must realize we now live in the $3.00 gas a gallon era. More horsepower, bigger and faster is better. But is it realistic? Gas will probably never return to below $2.50 and we're one major terrorist act or major natural disaster away from shortages and long lines. I grew up in the late 60s & 70s muscle car era. It was great. Then came the early 70's with higher gas prices and shortages. Life hasn't been the same. Give me a good looking, sporty cars with moderate performance. I want better gas mileage, period. Cost is one thing, limited gas availability would be a nightmare. I like the hot cars, but I now prefer looks over macho performance.

i wouldnt say its a better car, they arnt in the same class. But for me it is a better car, its more of what i want in a car. There will still be a place in my heart for a good ol' cadillac but iam very happy i got the Charger on order, i got more then i thought i could with the Charger, the track pack was a 1600 option but over all still 2 grand less then the 2.8 CTS. alot of the CTS's feat. are on the Charger i got too, and more, like steering wheel control, dual zone climate control, dodges vers of the DIC, heated leather seats, power adjustable pedals....i could go on

I had a Plymouth Baracuda and a Roadrunner. How much more for the ^.1 engine? Nice cars but not a Cadillac.:D Have you searched for a Dodge Charger Forum yet?

found 2, well one charger one LX, the 300/magnum/charger platform is the LX. Good people over there, but i wont stop comming here. The SRT with the 6.1 starts at about 38k i think, maybe less but thats to much car for me....till i get the supercharger on the hemi....500rwhp! But thats 6 grand later. My dad had a 73(i think it was, before i was born) Road Runner, blue with white stripes on the side.

I think you want the 5.7 RT Charger. I think the LX is a 6cyl. If you think you'll SC the 5.7 you should get the 6.1

Yeah I looked at the Charger and the price and the 6.1 Hemi are impressive, but in the end it just isn't a Cadillac!!! I am sure someone on here will figure out how to pull the 6.1 out of the Charger and drop it in the CTS!
