Yes, I need to know what the wires from the dash do..

which is the constant, which is the ingition/acc, which colors are the speaker wires, ect.

Plus I noticed that there is not a standard radio antenna plug, so I'm interested in that.

ANY help is appreciated.
Wait, I just realized about the amp in the back near the power antenna. From the wiring harness in the dash (and a multimeter) I found the constant and the acc and the ground and the power wire that allows the radio to run for 15 min. Looks like what I need to do now is figure out how to power the antenna and run a wire from the antenna up to the new head unit. Then of course run new speaker wires to the speakers.

Turned out to be an all day project for tommorrow.

After I posted that photo, I realized the antenna relay is missing from the drawing. Duh!

Thanks everyone, I got it in. I just ran new wires to the speakers and I rewired the antenna to work with the new head unit and everything looks (and sounds) great! I'll post pics when I get them (in a new post). Until then, this is the unit I got: except my back lighting is blue and I have the Cadillac logo on the LCD most of the time.

Thank you for those diagrams, I've been looking for them for a long time. :)

I know just about nothing about car audio... Why is it necessary to rewire the rear speakers?

You're quite welcome for the diagrams. Don't forget to download and save them. I don't know how long they'll remain on that server.

Cadillac uses a "head unit" in the dash that contains the cassette deck (and CD player if so equipped). Basically, the dash mounted unit is a wired remote control unit that operates the radio located in the trunk on the antenna mast. As a result, all the speaker wires are with the radio in the trunk as well. Installing an aftermarket radio in the dash requires that the speaker wires in the trunk be extended to reach the radio in the dashboard. Otherwise, entirely new wiring must be installed from the new radio to the existing speakers.

Thank you very much for that. So after you install an aftermarket radio you can basically dispose of the radio box near the antenna or will you still need it for something?

Yep. Nope.

P.S. Of course, you'll still need to get the antenna from the trunk to the dashboard.

P.P.S. That reminds me that I STILL have a 1995 Eldorado trunk mounted radio available. Anybody want it? Just make a donation to the board and pay the shipping and it's yours.
Where could one go about getting the antenna wire, and what is the best route to take when running them to the dashboard? Thank you for your replies, I appreciate it.
Antenna wire extensions and the requiste adapters can be found at your local autoparts store. Rat Shack has them also, but I'd see the auto parts folk first.

Run the wires under the passenger side door moldings at the floor. From the trunk to the dash.

Would you hook up an FM Modulator to the radio box by the antenna. Which color wire would you use to power the device.

Thanks
