^^^ - Are you referring to the red battery connection cover under the hood? If so, I removed the red cover to make the positive connection easier to access with a charger during the winter months, (when the V is not driven much).

That'll work, but I too was trying to figure out how to get the cover off of the battery terminal in the trunk.

Thanks for the replies... I was talking about the cover in the trunk.. When you squeeze it, only a small top portion opens up and the rest stays on.. It was not enough for me to get my battery tenders alligator clips on.. So..... The red positive terminal cover under hood is also a good place to attatch the tender?? It seems so far away.. And where would i attatch the battwry tenders ground cable clip?

I was looking to add a battery tender as well and ended up just removing the interior on that side of the trunk. The red plastic cover has a couple of small plastic teeth/latches that snap in place around the plastic body. I had to use a mini flathead to undo the teeth in one place and the rest of it came loose. Even knowing how to remove the plastic, there's really not enough room/slack to do much. If I had to do it again, I'd probably just remove the interior cover again.

I got tired of messing with alligator clamps and made my CTEK battery tender connections semi-permanent by attaching one end of the disconnect to the battery terminals.
Even during non-winter months my car can sit for weeks at a time, so I keep it connected to the tender. Just a quick unplug and I'm ready to go.
It's the original battery, now 5 1/2 yrs old.
