Hello all I finally registered. Any way I have a 90 cad coupe deville 4.5 v-8, when I got in the car today I started her up and let her warm up I realized she was idleing hard and I put her in drive and the whole time my foot was on the gas it was jerking. So I pulled over and cut her off and let her sit for about 5-10 min then started her back up and she ran smooth. That was this morning on the way to my class. So I didn't think nothing of it untill it happen again today but this time I was on my to work. And basicly the same thing happened. And I did the same thing. I'm still at work but on break. If anyone has any idea what the problem may be and how to fix it I'd really appreciate it.

Start by pulling the DTC's. How many miles on it? When was the last tune up?

almost 170,000 miles and last tune up was about a year ago

Then we can probably rule out plugs, wires, cap & rotor. We need to figure out if it is ignition or fuel. Start by pulling the codes.

Simultaneously press and hold the OFF & WARMER buttons. Once in the diagnostic mode, HIGH FAN = YES and LOW FAN = NO to any prompts. Copy down the DTC's. Decipher them here and post the results. http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd1.html

ipressed and held the two buttons. It's saying hi fan in top right corner and econ, auto, off down the left....and now the car just cut off. What's going on?

That does not make much sense. Try it again. The engine does not have to be running. Just key on.

fuel center sayin .7.0 after it blinked e49 a few times. And from left to right ccc says off ---'c and hi fan

P049 (E049) .............................. Air Injection Reaction (AIR) System Fault
I did not think that would cause the type of driveability problem you described.

should I pull the air compressor line out or what? Is that an easy fix?

I just did it again the fuel center says 8.8.8. E41 E49 and F10

P041 (E041) ................... No Cam Reference Signal from Ignition Control Module
There is your problem. I think this has come up before. Do a search for cam reference signal. It is a distributor problem as I recall. Hall effect switch or something like that.

Not sure. I think F is a body code so it might be

Are you having any trouble with outside temperature readings?

how much does it cost to replace the cam signal and the ECM? thanks in advance....

The outside temperature sensor is very easy to fix. It is mounted on the hood latch bracket behind the grill.

I have no idea on prices.
