OK, the strangest thing has started happening to me. I start the car, push the memmory button 2, everything adjusts for me. I drive away and about 2 minutes go by and then I notice the drivers side mirror starts to tilt towards the sky. This happened to me twice today. I don't know what's going on and this never happened before. Any ideas?

My only advice would be to do the following:

- when it happens again, pull over, put the car in park, readjust your passenger side mirror and resave your memory setting by holding down the memory button until it beeps (I presume you know how to do this but, just in case...).

- if that doesn't work, take it to the dealer!

I had the same problem (mirror w/ a mind of its own) a few months back, however, it was on the passenger side. Not sure if it had anything to do with it, but it happened during heavy rains for 2 straight days. After the rain stopped and all was dried out, the mirror returned back to normal. Have you had heavy rain lately? good luck.

Hi guys,
This happens to me a lot with the passenger side mirror.
Brought it in. Dealer tells me it just needed re-programming.
Picked up the car.
Left the dealership.
Was good for a day.
Then this weekend, I was merging off the highway... took a look, and the mirror was pointed down to the ground.

I am still amazed at the issues I am having with this CTS as compared to my 2004. Amazing.

Back to the dealership this week!

My '08 driver's mirror would not always properly adjust back after using the reverse dip feature. Big problem when merging onto the highway, with mirror pointed skyward. The dealer didn't find anything wrong. I noticed that it only occurred when the mirror switch was in the off position, with no LED's lit. If I kept the switch in the "driver's side adjust" position, with the LED lit, then it did't happen. I tried turning it off a few times, and the problem reappeared, so I eventually left it on, and no more aggravation. Try playing with the switch position and see if that helps.

Wow. Very interesting. Thanks for the info.
It's just so amazing how people on this forum know so much more than my dealer. It boggles my mind.
I mean.. it's a car, not a space shuttle.

The ticking behind the instrument cluster; gracenote mixing up my MP3 tags; passenger mirror going wacky on me... Every day I am teaching my dealer more and more......!

Hi again!

The car is back in the dealership, and of course, with respect to the mirror issue, she called me yesterday and said, "No problem found. It works fine." ****, I hate that.

It's intermittent!!!

She said I can drop by the dealership and try it out with a technician.

Well, I guess I'll do that. It just happens once a week or so. I am starting to really get annoyed with how this dealership deals with intermittent problems!

If anyone else has mirror issues and/or remedies, please let me know!

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Here's what I did. I just reprogrammed the memory positions with them in the correct position. Fixed the problem. No idea why it was doing it. About a month later the passenger mirror did it twice. Didn't do anything and it stopped doing it. I think as you said all the rain may have caused something to happen, although I don't know what. We've been getting a ton of it. Either way, it seems fine now and it's been about a month.

Just a little update...

In addition to the mirror occasionally doing funny things, the mirror seems to tick/jump/skip when adjusting it.

Therefore, the dealership is ordering a new mirror for me, paint-to-match.

We'll see what happens afterwards...

How do you turn the mirror adjustment led off I cannot figure it out, I thought you would push the middle of the selector, but nothing happens the led stays lit.

Xtant12, you have an '08 CTS with the Park Tilt Mirror feature? Have you checked your settings in "DIC Vehicle Customization"?

If your driver's side mirror doesn't adjust at all with the controls then there may be a problem with:
• the driver door switch assembly (DDSA)
• the driver door module (DDM)
• the transmission of serial data between the DDSA and DDMs (there are 2 DDMs in the door to control the mirror)
• the mirror motors (there are 2 motors in the mirror assembly)

From the CTS service manual:

Outside Mirror System Components
The power outside rearview mirror system consists of the following components:
• Driver door switch assembly (DDSA)
• Driver door module (DDM)
• Passenger front door module (PDM)
• Driver outside mirror
• Passenger outside mirror
• Serial data

Outside Rearview Mirror Operation
The outside rearview mirrors are controlled by the driver door switch assembly (DDSA) which contains the mirror control switches, the driver door module (DDM), and the front passenger door module (PDM). The DDSA decodes mirror control switch activations while the door modules apply battery voltage and ground to their respective mirror motors to move the mirrors to the desired positions.

Copy/paste from the '08 CTS Owner's Manual:

Park Tilt Mirrors

If your vehicle has this feature, it allows you to select
whether or not the outside mirror(s) will automatically tilt
down when the vehicle is shifted into REVERSE (R).
See Park Tilt Mirrors on page 2-50 for more information.

Press the customization button until Park Tilt Mirrors
appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button
once to access the settings for this feature. Then
press the menu up/down button to scroll through the
following settings:

Off (default): Neither outside mirror will be tilted down
when the vehicle is shifted into REVERSE (R).

Driver Mirror: The driver’s outside mirror will be tilted
down when the vehicle is shifted into REVERSE (R).

Passenger Mirror: The passenger’s outside mirror will
be tilted down when the vehicle is shifted into
REVERSE (R).

Both Mirrors: The driver’s and passenger’s outside
mirrors will be tilted down when the vehicle is shifted into
REVERSE (R).

No Change: No change will be made to this feature.
The current setting will remain.

To select a setting, press the set/reset button while the
desired setting is displayed on the DIC.

I had my drivers side door panel removed to replace the wood inlay and now the mirror has a mind of it's own. ALSO the damn roof leaks in a heavy rain. I have already cleaned out the drains. ANybody got any suggestions. Do you think a reflash would help with the mirrors

Can someone tell me how to fix this, I have a 2015 ATS a d the passenger side mirror doesn't adjust nor does the turn air am indicator blink, the led works because i tested it with a separate battery, the plug for the led turn signal isn't getting any power at all the plug for the tilting mirror is getting power but it's jumping the voltage up and down from 3v to 8v but that's not even all the puddle light works on the passenger side mirror but not on the drivers side at least it's not getting full power because I get 5v of power on the passenger side and 2-3v on the drivers side for the puddle light so....is this like a wrong fuse on something ? The Cadillac dealer refuses to tell me which fuse controls the side mirrors and I can't find anything on it please help

Welcome, steezceres.
You posted in the CTS forum.
I would suggest asking/posting in the ATS subforum for better results.
Good luck in solving your issue.
