Just bought a 89
The valves clatter under a load. How much would a fair mechanic charge for this? I presume both heads would need to come of and the back head looks hard.
The pull down for the top keeps pulling the top up and down with out quitting. It will pull the soft top down properly but then right away will release it and the right away again tighten then loosen, and well you get it. Is there an adjustment or do I need another motor and if so where is the best place to get it?
Both sunvisors just flop, whats up with that?

I'll post pics soon!

The "valve clatter" under load is probably the engine pinging because the static timing was set incorrectly. Log onto www.allantesource.com and read the section on pull down motor adjustment. The limit switch lever is probably bent. Purchase a factory service manual for whomever will work on this car. The valve clatter can also be a failed EGR valve or solenoid which can cause pinging if either is inoperative. Join an Allante' specific club. If I recall, Allantesource has a thread on repairing sun visors to some degree.
