Wouldn't put a lot of faith in CarFax, but even small dealerships usually have a subscription to do a quick history. If its important to you, tell them you want them to get it for you before you would consider the purchase. They could always use it going forward. If they refuse, there's probably a very good reason you should move on...

Agree. Ask the dealer. I bought my car at my small garage. They sell a small number of used cars and they already had the Carfax. If they do not want to provide it there is probably a reason.
