93 Fleetwood-TBI 350.
Right now I have the stock exhaust manifolds on the car but I am about to replace them with some stainless headers. My car has the electric air (smog) pump and there are 4 small air lines going from the pump into the manifolds.
The headers I ordered do not have holes for the air pipes. I'm wondering if it would be OK to drill a hole in the header and just have one 1/2" air hose going into the header instead of the 4 small factory one?
I hope this shit makes sense.

Glad you asked! Those 4 little pipes that look kind of like a rake? Get rid of them! They're useless to you. Those tubes are part of the AIR injection system. It pumps air into the exhaust to help burn unused fuel before it reaches the catalytic convertor. If you're putting headers in, dump the cat as well, it's only a restriction. You can take the AIR pump out, gut the pump, and put it back in to keep the same belt, or you can remove the entire pump and get a different shorter belt. What headers are you using? Will they fit my 90? Would you be kind enough to post the link? Good luck!

I just realized you have the electric pump. Never mind the belt info. Ditch it anyways.

I was thinking about doing just that but wasn't sure if was a requirement due to emissions. Here in Texas they just got real strict on emissions and I want to make sure I can still get an inspection. Will the check engine light stay on without the pump being hooked up? I appreciate the help.

Oh year, I ordered the Headers from Edelbrock.

Darn, the emissions inspections are a real damper. Yeah, they're gonna make you put it back on for sure.

I guess I just tap out a hole in the header and put a chrome hydraulic fitting in.
The use a chrome steel braided hose to go from the header to the check valve and then the factory rubber hose to the pump. Should look clean.
I already have enough stuff to put on for inspection:
air bags
reverse lights
windshield wipers
front and rear license plates
horn

Computer won't care, but inspectors often do. You can weld in tubes yourself to make it look or even be functional. But still migh fail visual (in CA for sure). But you can get some legal ones, likley from Edelbrock. Look for anything with CARB approval.

It should be perfectly functional with the single 1/2" fitting going into the manifold. All the other GM veh's with the same pump only have 1 line going to the manifold but for some reason the Fleetwoods and Caprices have the 4 smaller lines going in. I'll post a pic once it's done so ya'll can give the stamp of approval.
