Ok this is only my second post here I think, so Bear with me if I make any newb mistakes. (like spelling Cadillac wrong in my first post)
Anyways, I have an 86 fiero and it came with a 4.9 Liter pfi v8. I still have to install the engine and make it fun. What I would like to know is EVERYTHING about the engine. can anyone direct me to a faq for it, or a good resouce. I have several tmh125 transmissions l;aying around, And I hear they will bolt up with a little clearancing of the block, anyone hear of this b4?

I've heard of the N* going in pretty easy but not sure of the 4.9. Are they the same bolt pattern?

There is a website dedicated to engine swaps in Fieros. I don't have it right now but I found it in a yahoo search. Let me know if you don't find it and I'll go browsing. There is another one that is dedicated to putting Cad engines in just about anything. I think that one is: engineswaps.com

I was looking at putting a N* in an S-10 because with a 3.4 V6 trans from a Camaro it will bolt right to a N* with some minor mods.

Good Luck and have fun. bf

performance specs?

200hp @ 4100rpm

275ft lbs tourqe @ 3000rpm

low rpm pushrod.....redline around 5k

rough at idel, but smoth out

lota power, amazing amount of low-end tourqe

it's a Cadillac pushrod V8

exclussive to Cadillac

shes real fine, my four point nine.....

...... I do have some saved pages that have all the tourqe for the bolts and everything on the enigne, although I'd have to find them first, I can send thme to you.......

These things, with nomral maintenance should last past 300k miles with no major repairs

I have 82.5k miles, switched to synthetic oil, and love it...... although for my car I wish it had more top-end power...... I have put 2600miles on her int he last month or so I have been dirving it (hey, first car, I always drive around for no reason)

always drwas alot of attention when people here the 4.9 being raced, or when I spin the tires pulling out somewhere, as they don't usually see an old school Caddy spin the tires, or when they hear the engine, they turn and think they see a Mustang and Camero going at it or something, but instead are delighted to see the Caddy makin' all that wonderful noise (I need Flows)

I use it becuase IMO it is alot better, I am rough on the engine etc.... and I am going to have the car a long time.

When a familey member drove the car up from Florida, he said he got 21mpg o nthe highway about 72 running the AC, only mods I did was swtich to synthetic, add a K&N air filter, and run fuel injector cleaner in, and when I had the cruise set to 72, AC on I was getting 26-27mpg on the highway.... I cannot comfirm the millage he got as I wasn't there, but SOMETHING had to get the considerable extra millage.

I am also going to be chaning my oil every 4-5k miles, after reading the test where the Mobil 1 in the LT1 powered Camero got to 17k miles (sent a test in every 1k miles) then the extra 2k mils, which would be changing it at 5k miles odsn't seem soo bad....according to my on board oil life monitor, it says every 5k miles or so as well (although I duon't know how much to trust it)

I just do't mind spending the extra money every few months (or moth if I keep driving as much as I am now :D ) to give my car the good stuff, even if it dosn't do anything, it makes me feel better, becuase I know I am rough on the engine at times, and want all the protection I can get for her.
