I'm getting ready to put my system in my `97 Seville STS. JL 1000/1 & 450/4, 2 W6V2 12's, 2 W6V2 10's, and I really don't want to get rid of the stock HU because I like the steering wheel functions. I guess I'm going to have to see how the Line Level Convertors work, because I don't want to lose the features.

Anyone else done this so far?

I guess just because I can! :) I have the 2 10's in an "open box" style environment in the trunk, sort of "free-airing", and the 2 12s in a Type 2 box, and it sounds bitchin! Can't the stock head unit up past the 4th block on the volume thing, otherwise you can't stand it in the vehicle! :) The only bitch about it now, is I have to figure out where to remount the Bose Changer, because I can't keep a CD playing! :)

WOw, as a matter of fact I too am using an aftermarket amp and speakers on the stock BOSE system. I got two 15s (Memphis (orangebacks)) and a 1000w amp. I completely understand why you dont want to get rid of it, because, as is the case with me, I too do not want to lose the steering wheel functions...(they tend to get "oooh"s and "ahhh"s haha)...but also because its quite a cool feature. ALthough you may not want to get rid of those features, there are aftermarket radios that come with an attachment to the steering wheel that also, like the Stock system, let you control the volume and song via the wireless (I believe) attachment.

Im running 2 12" mtx thunder 8000's with a fosgate 1500db amp on my stock unit. The place by me used some kind of signal converter. I get some interference when I have the bass-boost turned up high. Im pretty happy with it. Though I would like to have more control over the subs. Only thing id change the headunit for is a new style in-dash nav unit to replace my tiny 4" screen. It'd end up looking like the 02-04 nav units, but with more options!
