My radio/navi unit was replaced because of peeling buttons. Supposedly the new unit was going to finally allow XM “live traffic” feeds. This wasn’t the case so onto my questions:

  • How does/should the XM “live traffic” feed work? I do have the service enabled….
  • The dealer left my navigation disk in the old unit so they gave me the upgraded disk. The new disk will not allow me to switch from Michigan when entering a route destination. Any ideas?

Thanks!!!!!

Your Michigan problem is a known issue, there is a thread on it a few days back. I have the same problem and the dealer is aware of it and has yet to resolve after 3 weeks (each week a new DVD).

As to the traffic, if your car didn't have it before then it won't have it now as there is more hardware than just the NAV unit involved *supposedly*, at least that's what I've been told.

Okay, that's interesting to know. I notified my dealer this morning about the Michigan issue. I guess I'll keep pushing them on the traffic isssue. I have a early 2005 and according to Cadillac "live traffic" should be available for all 05's. However, I do understand from XM's perspective that it's only available for cars built after a certain date.

Does anyone know what the additional hardware might be?

Not as of yet (I've been trying to find out, but the can't leave Michigan is of more importance to me at the moment).

NavTraffic is (supposedly) available on cars built after 1/18/05 (only). Why that is remains a mystery.
