Next time the V is in to the dealer I am going to complain about the finish peeling off of the nav unit buttons (abusive button pushing). From what I have seen on this forum the dealer solution is to replace the entire nav unit. I have two questions.

1. Will the replacement unit just do the same thing or has the problem been solved?

2. Will the replacement unit work with Nav traffic?

I just had mine replaced because of peeling buttons. The unit seemed to be the same so I think the buttons will peel again. Additionally, I complained about live traffic feeds not working on numerous visits. They stated that the replacement unit should correct this issue. The unit has been in for a few days and still no feeds. The good news is the dealer left my NAV disk in the old unit so they gave me the upgraded disk.

FYI, you may or may not know this but “live traffic” is a subscription service with XM. If you call them, they will offer a demo for 3 months. Good Luck!!!!

Mine was replaced this week. It looks like the same unit so they'll probably peel again. The traffic feeds do seem to work different (I don't know if they're right). I used to push the traffic button and nothing would happen. At least now when I push it it cycles through the stations. I wasn't lucky enough to get the upgraded nav disk in the switch.

Supposedly for for XM’s “live traffic” you don’t need to do anything. They just feed directly to the unit. I can confirm b/c mine doesn’t work. RE: traffic button, that’s only for FM/AM stations….

Msheri01 and Lindsay Cadillac were nice enough to help me with my situation. Upon replacing the NAV unit, "competitive mode" will no longer display on the NAV screen. I also cannot enter the personlization menu to program the seat position, mirror position, etc. The V goes back to Duke Cadillac on Thursday. Here's hoping.

I've got the same problem. Please let me know what you find. I'm in Europe this week and will have to take it back in next week.

This was their reply:

CVP33 - msheri01 is right... The radio has to be programmed... Also, if the Tech II used to program the radio wasn't up to date (see bulletin below) then you won't be able to go into competitive mode...

Customer or technician may have a concern of "Competitive Driving Mode" display missing after a radio replacement. Current Tech 2 software does not support the CTS-V.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The Technician should contact Techline Customer Support Center at 1-800-828-6860 for an updated Tech 2 calibration until the release of Tech 2 software version 24.007

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
