First post on this forum. I got a 2009 Black CTS a few months ago, and its almost time for that first oil change. I was wondering if anyone knew where (other than the dealership) to get the OEM filter. Also, does anyone use anything besides the OEM ones? Any thoughts or comments would be helpful Thanks.

Here's a reliable online source for 2008-09 CTS engine oil & air filters, cabin air filters, etc. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1442758&parttype=5340. It may take a minute for the webpage to load...patience...a list of WIX, ACDelco, and FRAM oil filters should pop up. If nothing else, you can find parts numbers and compare prices before going to your local auto parts retailer(s). Hope this helps.

Click on this link and the embedded link in the post (takes you to a 2003-2007 CTS forum post)- almost everything you ever wanted to know about changing your own oil. Mine is a 2008, 2009 AWD has a different shroud under the engine.

Any of the national brands sold at stores like Pep Boys or Walmart will work just as well as the gm unit (which by the way, isn't made by, but for GM)
