Odd thing... The CD player in my 99 Malibu "overheats." I'll noice that if I rest my hand on the front part of the head unit it gets pretty warm. Eventually my song will just cut out and I'll turn the thing off. Let it cool down and it's fine. It takes about an hour to overheat. WTF? Why would this be happening, especially with the weather being so cold?

POS cd player?
....or is it the music :D

I wonder if there could be dust accumulation on a heat sink or vent or something?
My cd player gets pretty damned hot too.

Seriously, does it overheat when you play music at low levels too?

Dunno, it's only happened twice. It's the stock Delco CD player in the 99 Malibu. I wou;dn't even know how to begin to remove that thing.... Maybe shooting the disc slot with air duster?
