Hey, im 18, just entering college and i cant get cars off my mind! (and women too:rolleyes: ) I've been thinking after im done (5-6 years) i will buy 4 cars in the span of 2-4 years. I will hold onto my '92 Sedan deVille thru college to save money and its still a great car. But i was planning on buying a low mile 95-97 Town Car Signature Series first. I like the town car's truly "what speedbump?" ride, its also great because its so long, and low and square, i also like how its RWD and it's hood seems so long. The Town Car will be my daily driver. Secondly i plan to buy a 96-98 Lincoln Mark VIII. Its cool to me because its big, sporty, quick, high tech, great looking, RWD, and i love the Mark Series. The Mark VIII will be my night/weekend cruiser. Third, I plan to buy a 1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV. This will be my "project car". I plan on installing a new 550hp 460cid Crate motor later and making other modifications to make this car run high 12's - low 13's. Then lastly, i will buy another "daily driver" my ideas for this are a 02-03 Nissan Maxima GLE/ SE or a 02-04 Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe, or maybe a 2000-2005 Volkswagen GTI VR6. What do you all think of this? Which of the Maxima, Accord or GTi do you think is best?

The Maxima is a good choice. I may be biased.

My plans after grad school are:
1. 1990 Infiniti Q45
2. 2000 Cadillac Seville STS
3. 1990 Mazda Miata
4. 1996 Audi A8
5. 1989 Mazda MPV with a turbo rotary. A RWD sleeper.

I'd like to build a nice house with a 10-car garage out in country and have enough land to build my own track. Oh yes!

I'd suggest an LT1 Fleetwood over a Town Car. Everything the Town Car has pretty much, just better. Like 5.7 > 4.6. The Mark VIII is an awesome car, and if you're going to modify it it's better than an ETC. If it will be stock though an ETC is a better choice IMO (and in the opinion of my friend Jeremy who owns a Mark VIII.) We all know 500ci > 460ci :p but seriously the 70s Continentals were nice, IMO the only thing they had going over the 70s Eldo was RWD, and they might have nicer exterior styling than the Devilles although that's subjective.

I dunno about having a Town Car and another daily. Insurance and such will probably make the fuel savings cost prohibitive.

I don't think I need to do much car-buying to get the driving experiance I want.

75 Deville: propane carbs, 12.5:1 compression, .6" lift cam, nitrous, 450-475hp + 200 shot. Later, forged pistons&rods with either a 500 shot or twin GT47 or similar turbos at ~28psi. 5.1 channel PC entertainment center (DVD, MP3s, videos, games, navigation, etc) Still totally streetable and the cost/mile will be similar to the 16mpg ETC. This car will run 12s with the AC on, NO COMPROMISE.

-Hang on to the ETC as a backup car and for 1-2 person roadtrips, maybe spray it too.
-Maybe pick up a used XLR or XLR-V in 6-8 years if I feel the need for a decent handling car with a drop top.

The XLR-V in about 6 years is my plan too, but I'll probably have to settle for an STS-V, cause I don't think I'd fit in the XLR :'(

I considered The LT1 FWB too instead of the town car, but since i wont need THAT car to be fast (thats what the Mark 8 is for) the LT1 part doesnt matter, and i've already owned a GM "B Body" --Roadmaster, and i wasnt too fond of that car, so i dont think i will buy another B-body. (Fleetwood,Roadmaster,Caprice) But i havent driven a FWB, so i might really like it. you never know. And i like how the Town Cars after 1993 always had the Driver's Information Center, thats a feature i really love in a car, and the FWB never had that. So thats strike 2 against the FWB. The styling on the FWB may be better, but thats subjective, and no doubt the 5.7 is a better V8 than the 4.6 is because there are so many modifications available for the LT1 5.7 If i was gonna mod my daily driver, i would have to go with the LT1 FWB, but im not gonna, so i'll stick with the Lincoln.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call those "plans" more like "dreams"! I wanted to have many cars too, but I soon realized the expense of having more than 2 (insurance, maintainence, gas, etc). I did the smart thing and saved it in different accounts to draw maximum interest, and now I'm glad I did!

I currently reside in a good sized condominium (1600 square feet), in a gated community on a golf course- life is good. You need to work HARD, and whatever you do make sure you do it to the best of your ability! I wish you the best of your lifelong journey through the ups and downs!

WHAT?!

They are plans for sure. After I get my degree in computer engineering (not information science, but actual engineering), I think a Cadillac would be a PLAN. I'm not a very big spender and I'm quite conservative with my purchases. I only get something if i need it and can afford it. I don't believe in using credit unless ABSOLUTELY necessary...

well this is how i figure it, Its gonna be 2010-2014 by the time this plan goes into affect, the Lincolns will both be atleast 13 years old, right now, a 13 year old Town Car w/ 80,000 miles is worth about $4600 due to NADA, and a 13 year old Mark VII is worth about the same. So thats about $9500 for those two first off. Now i know a lot of ppl that after college, will take out loans for a $20,000-$30,000 brand new or newer car. So spending $9000-11,000 on two cars doesnt sound bad. As for the Mark IV, and Maxima, i expect to pay around $7k- $10k for the Mark IV alone, but that can wait until im in my 30s or 40s really. But for the Maxima, i dont really know what to expect to pay for a 10-12 year old Maxima, if i go to www.NADA.com, a '92 Maxima with 80k miles is worth about $4200, i dont know if thats a reliable basis for estimating what a certain car will be worth in the future, but it seems like it would work. Now if you add The Town Car, The Mark VIII, and the Maxima together, its about $15,000 give or take a bit, so getting three cars for $15,000 and hopefully paying for all of it in cash (NO LOANS) in the space of around 3-4 years doesnt sound too bad. Now remember, im hopefully gonna stay single, and i pray i'll never have kids, i want a Condominium like your's speedyarizona, but it doesnt have to be THAT nice :) So, for a 26-28 Year old single male, working full time as a cop/detective, whose starting salary on average is around $39,000, this sounds doable, doesnt it?

I had a '99 Accord EX coupe for six and half years and 75,000 trouble-free miles, and I absolutely loved it. It was the best car I ever had, and next to Betty, my '64 Impala, it's my favorite car. I'd still be driving it—and wouldn't have my Cadillac—if it weren't for my pending divorce. At least my niece now has a very nice first car. And I can visit it when I go to North Dakota.

My Accord was a 4-cylinder and it felt as fast as any V-6. That car could fly. Sharp handling. Terrific brakes. Very comfortable.

Crap. Now I'm missing it all over again. :crying:

My plan, when I am done with tech. school, only 16 months away (and I havn't started it yet!) is simple.

tired of luxury cars, I want a change.

so I am VERY specific on my next vehicle.

2005 Jeep Wrangler Rocky Mountain Edition, Patriot Blue, 6-speed manual, soft top, cruise control.

Yup, thats what I want... convertible, remove the doors, manual, 4x4, damn I am gonna have a blast.

I'll still have the '93 Coupe when I desire the luxury, the '79 is staying, and I have the 500's, so that'll get built up and dropped in.... hello go-fast car.

Then I would have my eyes on 2 cars.... a 2002 Eldorado ETC commerative edition, just because I absolutly love that car... it WAS going to be my next vehicle... but I really can't do the luxury car thing again... no more auto trans, more more "cars" etc.... atleast not for a while, I will be 20/21, young, gotta live a little, and while I would love the new Saturn SKY concept, I want a truck, that Jeep is going to be the ultimate fun vehicle for me. But, since that Eldo is no longer going to be my next car, I would still like one in the future, if not the '02, then a '95 ETC in clean shape (going to get hard to find though) *OR* besides getting the newer Eldo, a '59 Caddy (any model) to fix up and restore... I just don't know if I am going to want to get involved with restoring a classic yet... that is AFTER I buy my house though.

So simply, once i graduate tech school, land a good job, et my finances in order, the '93 DeVille will get retired from daily driver use, and Hello Jeep... I think about it every single hour of the day and I can't wait.

Haha, I'll play too.

I'm in computer science with co-op at University of Waterloo. With my co-op program, I alternate every 4months between school, and work, so I'm going to come outta university with virtually no debt. My plan, the second I graduate, I'm going to finance a CTS-V. I'll keep my current CTS for the winter :D
