2002 Seville STS F55, 2006 Mazda Miata
Paper and tape will have to do until I get a proper sign.
New paint, carpet, and lights. I saved some money by going with a downstairs windowless space. I don't care for the sun anyway.
Furniture was free. The last tenant was some guy who made firefighting videos. He painted one wall green to create his own green screen, and apparently he LIVED in the office. The building manager says he never saw his car leave at night and when he was evicted a bunch of personal items (shaving cream, etc) were found by the sink, as well as a rack for hanging his clothes.
The back room. Will be used for storing active inventory. Inactive inventory stays at the warehouse downtown.
A sink for some reason. The toilets are down the hall.
I really need to clean the desks and chairs.
Thank you to whomever owns "linksys" for the free internet. I was going to use my Sprint broadband service, but this is easier.
My neighbor across the hall, a CPA.
My next door neighbors are old people who get together and sew things. I work at night so I don't really have to worry about disturbing them.
Extra storage space next door. I call it The Dungeon. I plan on leaving handcuffs on the pipes and tally marks on the walls to freak out the maintenance crew.
That concludes our tour. Its a one year lease for $270 a month. Electricity, water, and apparently now the internet are all paid for. If I ever need to expand, there's more space in the building. An elevator makes moving books in and out very easy.
Kirkwood Missouri is, more or less, the town where the Keatons lived (remember the TV show "Family Ties"?). Lots of traditional middle and upper middle class white families, huge old trees, a busy and historic little downtown, and some old houses. The Amtrak station here is one of those old fashioned types, MUCH nicer than the shack that serves the city of St Louis. The building itself is mostly occupied by insurance agencies and real estate firms, Allstate being the biggest tenant. In front, its all retail, including an old drug store and a gun shop. I'm very pleased.
I still need to spruce up the place a bit. I should put Kelly Clarkson posters on the walls and paint a huge mural of Chairman Mao, for no other reason than to scare the elderly folks next door. I have an extra fridge I plan on bringing in, as well as my Dreamcast.
