My sources tell me that the V production is still on constraint-anybody can chime in please?
This is kinda weird, eh?
production is not on constraint...ordering is on constraint because they have an idea of how many they can produce initially and there are around 900 Cadillac dealers nation wide for them to be distributed to, so cadillac has formulas for them to see the limit of initial production and determine what markets they go to and what dealers in those markets get more or less allocation.....for example we are in a key market (a plus moving us up the list) and we are a key dealer in a key market (another plus moving us up the list) and my constraints last week FORCED me to make 2 more CTS-Vs ...i was literally locked out of making anything else, so Cadillac sees us as a valuable partner in selling these....and that is because in their formula we historically sell Vs better than most of the dealers around us.

lets make up a production number of 2000 cars to be built initially....it would make no sense for Cadillac to send 40 to each state. cars in California, Texas, and Florida would evaporate on arrival while cars in Montana and North Dakota would languish on the lots.....it would be better to guarantee 1 to each of the 900 dealers then take the remaining 1100 and say 200 more go to California, and Texas, and Florida each and 100 go to the next 5 top states...or something like that.

but as of right now production is still on schedule to begin next month

Got a text from my dealer. I ordered my CTS-V in late May and did not order the CF package. My TPW was this week, but the front grill code in in May was the same as the CF package, so all orders were put on hold. The regional district manager had to call Detroit/Lansing to change the grill code as my order was locked for any changes at 3100. I found out that my TPW was pushed back one week and will likely get built with no further delays....The wait begins!

I received an update from my dealer this morning - my V has been released from from status code 4000 ("Available to Ship") and is now at status code 4B00 (Bayed - Awaiting Transport). Dealer says that they can "expedite delivery" now that code 4B00 has been achieved. They expect it to arrive next week. So keeping my fingers crossed!

W2E - Seats, Recaro Performance
C3U - Sunroof, Ultraview
UQT - Performance Data & Video Recorder
Q8N - Wheels, 19" Polished
Y40 - Luxury Package
Y61 - Advanced Security Package
WCN - CD Optical Drive (Glove Box Mounted)
J6F - Calipers, Red
C43 - Base Splitter

Make sure you guys all do the 500 mile recommended initial oil change (unless something is different for the V3 compared to the Z06.......and I have heard that there is bulletin out to all the dealers that they should only use Mobil1 in the LT4's....and that includes the "free" oil changes. It may also pay to make sure that the dealer's tech's know about the unique dry sump oil changes. Apparently some chevy dealers, who will likely sell a lot more dry-sump vettes than any caddy dealers will sell V's, don't know about the Mobil 1, and don't know about the dry sump system.....

This learned from the Z06 and Z51 guys.......
