Just got done with my brake job and went back to the autoparts store to drop off the caliper tool , i checked the rears when i got there and they seemed to be fine after driveing it 4 miles , made the return trip home only to be greeeted by tons of smoke and the smell of burnt friction material coming from the right rear wheel , any sugestions here ? i got it sitting int he street cooling off , after a couple of hours ill go and pull the right rear wheel off and remove the caliper fromt he car to find if i put something back in wrong or if the park brake cable got messed up when i did the job but im open to other ideas here

The same thing happened to a couple of friends of mine.
One was driving with the parking brake on. Didn't notice.
The other was caused because when replacing the pads, he didn't make sure both calipers were all the way back before the new pads were inserted.
Caused some sort of uneven rubbing.
I'm not a mechanic..but this is what happened.

They're probably small because they figure Hey, the front brakes do 80% of the braking so we can save money and make the rear brakes smaller because they only do 20% of the braking.

point taken , this is the first car ive delt with with such a diffrence in brakes front to rear , i think cadillac set this thing up for 95% front and 1% rear with the front bumper draggin the ground making up the lost 4% , the pads on the rear of my 2700lb G20 were bigger

but this is no performace car , just a couch with so so brakes so i really shoudnt be surprised , it was probably desinged to never go over 30 mph since most of the people who orinally bought the sedan deville never go above that speed anywhere anytime

reminds of of the subway commercail "i determined it was a grease fire , what would jared do?"
