Hello all I just want to say hello, and tell a little about my project build. I started with a really good 500 block and crank, which I took to the machine shop to be hot tanked and bore .030 over so it should be 507 cid now. I also had the machine shop assemble the block and balance it as well. Here is a list of parts the best I can remember:

  • Keith Black Hypereutectic Pistons - KB 382,
  • 76 cc combustion chamber heads,
  • Edelbrock Performer manifold,
  • MTS shaft rocker assembly,
  • Holley 870 CFM Street Avenger Carburetor,
  • Lunati #34603 Bracket Race Camshaft,
    • advertised Duration IN/EX: 285/316
    • Duration @.050 IN/EX: 230/241
    • Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .515"/.520"
    • Lobe Sep Angle / Intake Ctr Line: 110/108
    • Valve Lash IN/EX: Hyd/Hyd
    • RPM Range: 2500-6500
  • Holley 110 GPH "Blue" Electric Fuel Pump With Regulator,
  • Sanderson Headers
These are just the things I can remember right off. I put this in a 1987 Oldsmobile 442, I’m almost done now. I bought the engine on a whim couldn’t pass up such a great deal when I found it. A few months after I spun a rod bearing in my 307 Olds, I thought to myself should I rebuild that little 307 or go with the big caddy. I didn’t have to think about it that long. :)

It's alive:burn:

My News Year's Celebration was firing up my engine for the first time and it ran like a dream. Now I just need to have the front end aligned and a new exhaust system then it will be complete. :bouncy:

holy hell!

Sweet engine, in a G-body, that is going to be friggin FAST!

I personally like the G-bodys... of course, being an Olds fan, my favorite is the Cutlass.... by far.... and a 442!? DAMN! sweet engine in a sweet car... I GOTTA SEE PICS! :)

What happened to the rare orignal 180hp 307 that was in there?

The 307 spun a rod bearing, and I had the caddy motor in my garage waiting for a new home. I just figured if I was going to pull the 307 out why not put something with a little more muscle in it :D

WOW!
The 180hp 307 was adequate power for that 3300lb car, I can only imagine what a modded 8.2 can do!!!

man, that is sweet. I am a huge Oldsmobile fan and I really like the 80's RWD Cutlass.... 442 is just icing on the cake :)

thre a rod bearing? ouch... the 307 is a pretty tough engine.

Whatever you do, don't junk it... I forgot the vin code on the engine (been awhile since my 307 days) but I know the 180hp versions are rare... different cam and heads IIRC? definitly hold onto it. A rat rod type car would be sweet too.

Or you could give it to Dope so he could have the HO 307 for his brougham.
