Hey guys, after my radio and fuel door started not working randomly, I found on here that a new multifunction module may solve the problem. I just can't seem to find it's location in my 2000 catera. I looked under the steering wheel where the fuses are, but I don't see anything that looks like the new one I got. There are a few smaller boxes some are black, orange, and grey, but none are big enough.

Can anyone give me a good detailed position of where it is?

It is well to the left of the Brake arm and is stuck (sliding tabs) on to a metal plate. Need to be on your back lying down with a flash light and looking top right. This has a separate cable connector just for itself (multifunction so need to go out to many devices).

This is after you removed the plastic cover below the steering column which allows you to see most fuses and relays.

I removed the cover below the steering wheel I can see a bunch of little fuses. I still can't see the multifunction module, is this where it is on the 2000? There is a cardboard like panel below this, that goes around the pedals, does that need to be removed?

you have to remove the cardboard. I have a 2000 catera and replaced my relay about 9 months ago. Imagine there is a 3rd pedal for the emergency brake like some cars have. look in that area. Like commented earlier.. you HAVE to be on your back on the floor with your head in the center brake pedal, almost like your trying to look at the back side of the headlight controll switch from behind the dash.

Now there is a clip on the back of the relay, so i know it mounts up there, but mine was no longer mounted. It is a grey box it is 1" high 2" wide and 2" deep. It slides longways off the clip. there is a black clip that clips into the box. thats where the wires plug in.

I hope this helps. I did not remove any plastic panels, just the cardboard above the pedals.

Drivers side, there is a padded cover that is held on by two fasteners. This is the cover over the fuse box. This is not the cover and does not have to come off.
The one you want is slit and slides over the brake pedal it has three fasteners in the front and one in the back (1/4 turn to release)
The panel looks like it is 1/8 inch thick and dark in color( it is padded on the back) It is pretty much flat.
If you place your hand on the brake pedal and raise it straight up you will bump into the panel. Once you have it off. Lay on your back stick your head in the car just over the break pedal and while looking up toward the windshield. Take a flashlight and look toward the outside of the car like you were trying to look at the top drivers side
door hinge looking up through the wires you will see a gray box about the size of cigarette pack. Once you see it reach in and grab it slide it up a little bit and it will come free. There is enough slack to pull it down where you can unplug it and plug in the new one. Stick it back in and slide it down into the bracket replace the cover and your done. It took me 15 minutes to locate and install. Easy enough.

He couldn't have worded this any better, it's in a tight spot exactly where he saying it is. I have a 2001 Cadillac catera it was having the same issue for months until I read this.

OMG! There is another Catera owner? Curt Work, are you still there? I just bought me a 1998 Cadillac Catera for 600 dollars. I have always wanted one, but in 2002 I could only afford the 2001 MAlibu. Well I had the Malibu for 15 years and even did a 3500 "Milzymotorsport" swap. 2 Years later I finally can afford the Catera, and little to no parts are availabe much less anyone else who still has an interest in them. Pllease reply. Thx.

Do you have the Part # for this multifunction relay?

2000 Cadillac Catera, I need the part # for the relay that is under the dash. I put in the numbers that are the relay with no results. Any help would do.
