Apologies if this is a duplicate thread. Anyway, just got back from our first XTS road trip. 451 miles round trip. Car "says" we got 27.9 mpg avg. mostly 4 and 2 lane highways. Ads claim XTS gets 28 highway. So pretty much right on. Of course, car now has 800+ miles on it. Crap, almost time yo trade it in. ;)

I have just over 5000 miles on my XTS, and I routinely get 18-19 mpg just hacking around, the MPG read out and my manual calculations are usually within .5mpg each other. On a recent trip to NYC I averaged 27.5 mpg for the whole 900+mile trip (plenty of REAL city driving). on one particular leg, I fueled just off the highway, drove a little over 200 miles continuous at 72mph, fueled just off the highway again, and both the MPG read out, and my calculations showed a near 31mpg, (30.8 reading,30.4 actual).
I think I'm going to run a few tanks of 91 octane ethanol free gas see what she will do.

I'm waiting to see if mpg improves at all once engine is broke in a little more. The tank was full at delivery...I'd imagine dealer probably put regular in it (since that's what it's called for). I put premium in first time and mid-grade the second.

I drive 70% city and my XTS gets 20.6. (self calculated as I do not rely on the DIC reading)

I have a xts vsport and drive mostly hi-way with city on weekends. It says I'm averaging about 22 mpg. Now granted I do have to admit I do have little bit of lead foot too.

Sounds right, I've been averaging 23.6 on the highway when taking long trips...when I fly, I'll get around 22-23. I'm impressed, my 2012 Lacrosse Touring average was 17/20.

I'm in NYC and 98% of my driving is in town. Even still, I'm averaging 18.5, which I don't think is too bad for a car the size and weight of my XTS4.

Just purchased a 2014 XTS 4 AWD Luxury 3 weeks ago with 22K miles. Haven't had it on the highway yet but DIC shows average MPG of 12.6 in the city! Seems awfully poor compared to everyone else here. I don't baby the gas pedal but i don't lead foot it either. I'm planning to take it in to the dealer next week.

Have you reset the DIC so it just shows your driving, as opposed to all the test drivers before you? And, guessing from the pdx in your name, who'd you buy it from? Just curious.

Yes I reset the DIC. It was 12.5 mpg before and now is 12.6 mpg. Got it at Lithia Cadillac of Portland / Vic Alfonso

Ok. Same place I bought my new 2014 XTS Luxury. Cadillac of Portland (formerly Alfonso). Was just wondering about the DIC reset since I know they use some of their stock as service loaner cars. I'm sure ppl drive them like a rental.

It's a one owner certified. Their loaners all seem to be ATS's

That does seem low though larrypdx. In all fairness though, my car only has 830 miles on it and it's mostly freeway. No idea what I'll see after we've had it a while and get more city driving on it. Let us know what they tell you about it.
