More good vibes, Gene. From way north this time. The worst part is I am not 'supposed' to drive for a month. Longest time with out driving since 15yo [62y ago].
Thanks for the good vibes, I went thru Basic training many years ago and came out knowing I can do what ever is necessary. Gene

Gene is my dude. Seriously. So, Long. Glad you be trackin' to nail this down.
What a difference a day makes...
Yesterday was exciting simply to watch my brother in his zone. He is extremely talented and I have been revelling in the opportunity to enjoy the spoils of his creativity while selfishly getting to see him on a steadier basis.
It's fun watching a man's dream become reality.
Looks great. What will be the counter surface material?Yesterday was exciting simply to watch my brother in his zone. He is extremely talented and I have been revelling in the opportunity to enjoy the spoils of his creativity while selfishly getting to see him on a steadier basis.
Today I plan to prime all of the bare wood with the exception of the bar top and underside of the soffit. There will be a lull in production until the ceiling and walls are delivered, which I have been told will be later this week.
Hhmmm...
Well, I'm stoked. My daughter has gelled her family's plans for visit, and it's to be July with the big draws for the kids being the heat and the fireworks. Plenty of time to plan activities, menus and suchlike. I count it as a coup long ago to have turned her husband (German, and goes without saying quite sharp) from his and his friends "pretty much just scotch" and onto bourbon as well. I vaguely recall bourbon not so much a thing over there 20 years ago, but he got drawn to just reg. Jack Daniels. Years later he'd taken to my preference for WT101, and that gradually ended up all he had in the house. Then several years back after a couple trips here he's moved to also Woodford Reserve.Looks great. What will be the counter surface material?
BTW, I had an opened bottle of ER10. I had opened it for a sampling night with my Californian brother when he was up for Dad's funeral last June and I hadn't touched it since. Given that I now have four unopened bottles of it, I returned to the open one and I was reminded of how good it was. Glencairn glass, neat. Not the most complex whiskey you're ever going to try but it has more than enough interest. For the price, to get 10 years and single barrel - it's very very nice.
IIRC, my brother placed WRDO as his favourite of those we sampled with ER10 as a close second.
ER10 isn't very available up here but when it is, it's about $10 less than WRDO - which is consistently available.Well, I'm stoked. So when they were here Christmas '21 I put out the WRDO which netted me a generally favorable nod, but not what seemed like a rave impression. Several months ago my daughter remarked that he really REALLY enjoyed all the Double Oaked, so I just snagged a couple more -- along with of course a case of daughter's fave Prosecco.
With the ER I gotta agree it's quite fine, but its consistent unavailability in this market, slightly less presence and greater cost make WRDO the strong go-to.

Hhmmm...
And yet one more pause and a hhmmmmm..
I appreciate that you've traumatized over every design and finishes aspect of the project more than anyone else on here watching. I'll just admit the first golly-gosh thing I thought seeing that clean A- side plywood was what stain you planned. Really only spit-balling from the backseat, and trying to recall now what colorways you had commented many pages way back there. Interested as well with choice of counter surface. A slab of tree trunk? Engineered stone?
The entire bar area will be painted, not stained, black and I will likely be having the color sprayed.Stainless steel or copper? (which would be prohibitedly expensive considering the curbed shape)
I don't know what material you're going to use for foot rail you might keep in mind electrical shop that has conduit bender I have used them before for large diameter bends. The entire bar area will be painted, not stained, black and I will likely be having the color sprayed.
The finish for the top has been narrowed down to a few choices, but I'm leaning towards either cherry plywood or cherry hardwood flooring.
My original plan was for an L shaped layout, however my brother decided to go a different route with the 4' radius and it was very well received although curves are a bit more expensive. That plywood to make the curve? Over $100/sheet! We have a connection for fabricating the radiused bartop trim and will probably utilize an exhaust shop to custom bend the foot rail, although those are finishing touches not immediately required at this stage.
Something like this for the top-

I first thought of those brass rail kits, but isn't pol. brass now in the camp of "that's so '80es" and gotten replaced by s.s. or satin nickel? For conduit bent in either of those finishes it'll call for nstar's idea. Not that pol. brass won't look spanking with Black-n-tan.Brass Rail?
Good eye, Bob-- although the pinch point you noticed was his little brothers major concern from the start.Ha! A Black-n-Tan theme. And I should've figured that from the start.
The curved turn sure acts to draw the eye into the clubroom, plus answers what one pic looks to show the semi-slight pinchpoint at the stairs. Your brother's a sharp cookie, but maybe don't tell him he'll get a big head.
