After you have set the GPS function to the address just turn the radio knob volume down. The GPS will still give voice commands and you can set the GPS volume up or down but only when the GPS is talking. I set the GPS volume with the steering wheel control when it is talking, I have never used the radio volume knob to set GPS volume.
Hope that helps.

You could also set the audio source to usb. If you have a BT adapter attached to the usb port as I do, just stop or pause the connected audio source.

As far as I know, this is what we have. The radio and USB port share the same volume settings. The phone volume is separate from the radio, as is the GPS. When setting call volume, or GPS volume, that must be what is coming through the speakers. If not, you are changing the radio volume.
Somebody correct me if this is not correct.
