I realize that the snowflake is is for the transmission but how do you engage it on an 06 cts 3.6. I thought it was automatic but I was in the snow with about 12 degree weather while it was snowing with ice all over the road. I had a hard time driving because of my wheels kept spinning.
I put it in the manual matic mode and put it in third when I would take off but still tires spinning. I was very easy with the gas too.

That mode is on when the snowflake light is lit on the instrument cluster.

The only thing it does is skip second gear when you move from a standing start. The transmission shifts from first directly to third.

I just have the stock tires that came with it, the 16 inch. So I would think they would be all season.
And to kot. I do have the snowflake on my dash it just never lit up.

Your right, the little "icon" is there. Because the entire cluster is enter changeable between 03 to 07. So that is why it's there. If we were to take out cluster and install it into an 03 to 05. The snow flake will light up.

And on the 06 and 07. There is no SnowFlake light on the dashboard. It just starts off from 2nd or 3rd. Depending which you have it in.

Mine shows a green gear with an 'S' in the centre.

That's the Sports function. But since we have the transmission that we can select what gear we want to be in. The snow flake will never show up. Even if we are at a stop and put the gear in 2nd or higher.

Yes I know that & prefer it. Much more manly than a Snowflake, as is the FE5, JE5 suspension & brakes. Also the manual shift mode works great, gave it workout just the other day.
I will not be interchanging anythang.

So if it has the s with snowflake around it, its a sport mode? When I move it over to manual side on my 07 that lights up on the dash
You don't have a snow flake light that will light up. You have a "S" with a gear around it, which is the sport mode.

There are three modes when you have your shifter over to the right.

1) Simply pus the shifter over there, puts the transmission into Sports mode. It will learn quickly on how you are driving. If you are on a hilly and curvy road and you have the throttle down. It'll stay in the gear that you are in when you let off a little bit longer than normal. This is so when you put your foot on to the throttle again, you'll be able to accelerate out of the curve.

2) Push forward/reverse to change gears. Forward for shifting up, and reverse for shifting down. If you accelerate quickly and to red line (7,000rpms) it will not upshift for you like most imports will. You just won't go any faster. However, it will down shift to 2nd, or 3rd gear.

3) When you are at a stand still and are stuck in snow/mud or whatever. Push the shifter over and up to 2nd, 3rd or higher. This will force the transmission to start off from 2nd or 3rd.

In all three modes, the "S" icon with a gear around it will light up.
