Maxxis Tires

Do any of you guys have experience or know of someone who has experience with these tires? They have a high performance tire called the MA-Z1 that a buddy of mine that owns a tire shop recommended. He says they are made by Michelin and are an excellent tire for half the price. Can anyone validate this or warn me? Thanks in advance...

:). I just find it strange as I have never heard of this brand. I also live in a town where he is likely serving the other kind of cadillacs if you know what I mean. Even though he is a friend, he is always trying to make a sale...
