Maxxis Tires

Do any of you guys have experience or know of someone who has experience with these tires? They have a high performance tire called the MA-Z1 that a buddy of mine that owns a tire shop recommended. He says they are made by Michelin and are an excellent tire for half the price. Can anyone validate this or warn me? Thanks in advance...

you want random guys advice on the internet over your 'friend' who owns the tire shop? not too trusting these days, huh?
