I bought a used 2007 CTS V that had a Mallett Conversion with 25000 miles in 2017 . I used my credit union to finance it and also bought the 4 year platinum extended warranty . In the 3 years i.ve owned it i have used the extended warranty a few times and everything went fine . My warranty has about 3 months left . Last week i starting hearing a knocking sound coming from the engine and thought it was the Harmonic Balancer which had been replaced about 2 years ago . I brought it to my local dealership and they used a stethoscope on it and said the sound was the number 7 piston slapping The service guy told me they will have to replace the engine and will put a remanufactured engine in it . He also said that they want all receipts for oil changes which i write the dates and mileage in a note pads but hadn't kept the receipts which was foolish by me .My question being should they have to replace my engine with a remanufactured engine or with the Mallett upgraded engine '

I want to be sure I understand the question. Did you buy the car with the Mallett already installed? Or did you buy the car and warranty before conversion?
I bought my 2007 cts v with the Mallett conversion and 25000 miles in 2017 . The Mallett ID tag Chassis number O/V = 006 . The Build Date of 1/07 . I brought the car to my local Cadillac dealership to check out out a noise which i thought was coming from the Harmonic balancer . The dealership looked at it and said it was number 7 piston slapping and wanted to replace the engine with a stock LS 2 engine with a 100000 warranty , When i bought the extended warranty
, My question is should they replace the engine with the same engine with the Mallett conversion ;
