The CD in our our 2004 SRX Audio/CD changer/Navigation display has malfunctioned. It was working fine until it just stopped trying to change disks when I tried to eject a CD. It just returned "CD Error" to the screen. I disconnected the battery but apparently there is a battery backup to the battery so that the memory isn't lost. Now the CD indicates that it has no disks because the only button highlighted is "LOAD" even though it is full with 6 disks. When I select the "LOAD" button, it returns the "CD ERROR " message.

I thought about removing the fuse but it is in the rear fuse box which I haven't yet been able to get past enough layers of carpet to access.

Is there anything that I can do besides take it to the dealer?

Not really. Most of the CD error messages aren't even fixable at a dealership level, the radio gets set out to either be exchanged or rebuilt.
