Make a Cadillac Station Wagon

Has anybody tried to take the doghouse from the 93-96 and grafted it on to the front end of a same year Buick Roadmaster station wagon - or Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser.
It that were possible, (and you put the proper Cadillac logos where Buick Logos had been in the rear) you'd end up with what would look like a FACTORY Cadillac station wagon.
Anybody ready to try it?

Your best bet is to buy a '93-96 Fleetwood Hearse and convert it to a wagon. That would be easier IMO.

I've seen one done. Basically just grafted the Fleetwood front end on a Caprice or Roadmaster wagon, along with some unique taillights (I think). Can't remember where the pictures are, but it wasn't completely done, and was actually bright pink or something at the time.

Unique, but still not that different from what a regular non-Caddy wagon looked like, to tell the truth, at least not as much as you would expect.

Back in the 70's there were actually some custom Fleetwood wagons made by a conversion company, and they pop up from time to time on Ebay and elsewhere. Those are fairly interesting to see:

Plus a lot of other "custom" Cadillacs:

Makes you wonder what a properly done '93-96 converted one would look like...we've seen coupes and convertibles, so why not a wagon?

I;ve seen it as well. The pics were from a member on the ISSF. Ithink it was bright green or something, like you mentioned. The wagon basically had the front clip from a Fleetwood. IIRC it wasn't a direct swap since the fenders are different and maybe longer, so they had to be shortened some.

But the only problem with a hearse is that HIGH top.
Otherwise it might not look too bad.
But that's why I wondered about using the Cadillac doghouse on an already factory built wagon.
>Those wagons, above, ain't too shabby, IMHO.

The high top would be kinda cool to cut the lid out and replace with plexiglass for a giant vista window. Then have a bed in the back so you can park under the stars with your lady and get it on to the sounds of Marvin Gaye...

:highfive:

The '70s ones were awesome, I sort of wish they made more of them.

I've also seen the flat pink converstion, I think it was on layitlow.com The ass end was a Caprice IIRC. Are all of those wagons exactly the same size? A friend of mine has a '93 Buick wagon, it would be sooo easy to fleetwood it out.

I have some very bad pictures I found on an eBay auction of a car that appears to be a late 1960s model that's been wagonized. I'm not sure where they started (A compatible wagon or a fleetwood) but the results look OK. The pictures are bad and the car is in bad shape.

I once knew a girl in Germany whose family car was an actual Cadillac station wagon from the 1950s -it was the type that would either be converted into an ambulance or a hearse; it was bought by a millitary base in Germany to be an ambulance, but it was never submitted to conversion. It was aquired by a GI who sold it upon returning to the states, and her family purchased it. I'd imagine such cars are rare (if in fact she has one of the only ones surviving in such a state).

Those mid-70's wagons don't look too bad. The Vista Cruiser roof windows would be an interesting touch for the hearses, as BCs71 has suggested. Great choice of music for wild sex with the main squeeze! :excited:

I know I'm late, but I now know exactly what you are talking about now, and how likely someone can/will build one. A little food for thought though: How would you get the tailgate to function? It would be a crime to do away with the caddy tail lights, but would the b-body tailgate allow you to retain them if you had to graft that far (and in between the fins)? I think I've finally got on the same page as you - even if it did take a while. Sorry, PRG04
