So I have a 2015i Platinum ESV with about 1690 miles. My wife drives the Escalade normally but decided to take it out to work yesterday. I was coming back from dinner and there is a straightaway just before I have to turn into the neighborhood. I decided to floor this bad boy and see what kind of power it can make since I almost never drive the thing. I punch it beyond the knockdown point and it has great power and got it up to about 45 mph from a dead stop. All of a sudden the vehicle decelerates quite violently but just as I was about to turn into the neighborhood. I said to myself that if this car wasn't new I would have thought something broke.
I coast into the neighborhood and brake at one of the roundabouts and press the gas once I'm through it but the engine only revs but doesn't actually accelerate as though it were in neutral. Again, more gas results in revving but no actually movement. Fortunately I have enough momentum to creep just right up to my driveway and make it half way up it realizing that without ability to accelerate I can't beat gravity with that little momentum. So I decide to park in the street and place the vehicle in reverse.
Pressing the gas while in reverse causes the car to go forward. Pressing the gas in drive causes the car to go forward.
It appears to be some sort of transmission internal failure. I also was making a pretty bad smell as well.
I have to have the car towed now to the dealer for warranty repair.
