Hello,

I am almost 100% dead set on picking up a 2009 cts-v in a few months, and I just had a question for you owners. What's the deal with maintenance costs? How much am I looking at on a yearly basis, and how much of the work is DIY? I've searched the forum but could not find anything.

Thanks!

So far, I've just had routine oil changes but my warranty just lapsed, too. If you are wrench savvy and aren't afraid to use them you can work your way around the platform pretty easy. "How brave are you?" is really the question.

Nothing on this car is in the exotic, or even German, price range for replacement...

if you've had other cars and your experience level tells you abuse is the #1 factor in repairing anything (the parts that matter anyway) then you'll
realize in most cases the driver brings the bills on himself. with that said I've had my 09 for a yr and nothing but oil changes and personal mods
have been the only costs ensued. the beauty of the ls family power-plant is it's been around along time and is a very robust drive-train. it might
be in most peoples best interest (if out of warranty) to get a gmpp (10yr, 100k mi.) to offset any electrical or interior issues that may happen down
the road. 1700.00(depending on plan) is a nice cusion for another 5 yrs. of worry free driving.

These cars are very easy to work on too. Drain plug, oil filter are right there out in the open, no grease fittings, easy job for a oil change.

Not sure how you rotate tires on a car with different width tires front-back and directional tires, but whatever works for ya :)

The nice thing is it is easy to work on. I do my own oil/filter changes and it takes 30 minutes. 140 is steep for an oil change in my opinion but then I only use the dealer for warranty work. I get free maintenance but would rather do the routine stuff myself. Less chance of problems.

What the what?

I remind my service advisor every time I go in for an oil change to NOT rotate. EVER. Along with NEVER, EVER washing my car. EVER. Even if it's filthy.

This car is dirt cheap to maintain for a supersedan. I was at the dealer for oil changes ($85, yes, I know, steep) and the occasional warranty service. Better than any Porsche, BMW, Honda (yes, Honda is expensive as hell!) dealer I've been to.

You'll be lucky to get 20k on a set of tires. I think most folks are seeing more like 12k-15k. Not a big deal, but if you put a lot of miles on it and drive it like it was meant to be driven you'll be putting tires on it pretty frequently.

Worth every penny for the fun of driving it...

I got 20K+ out of the fronts. Could do the same with the rears, but that's only if you drive it like a Prius. Rears are easy 10K-12K.

I'm on my third set or rears and I put them on at 9400 miles. Maybe that's why I learned the hard way about the phosphate rear break in.

----------

But I'm obviously not looking for great mileage out of tires. To be clear one of the sets is a set of DOT drag MTs. Looking to find a set of 19x11s for easy swap outs.

I get 18-20k out of the two sets of PS2s I used on my V sedan.

Service history shows tire rotations on my car by the previous dealers, does Cadillac not pick up on this crap or is it default for the included care?
