How do you tell if the mrc is working ? 2010 Escalade with 48000 miles rides like a truck.
It is working! They don't go bad until 80k miles.

Trust me when the shocks go you will feel it. Also if you visually inspect the and see black film on them that means they need replacing

Got under vehicle today and found the front shocks had an oil film on them and one of the rears had alot of dirt, dust built up on it.

Front every 80k miles need replacing. Rears last longer usually 200k miles or more!

So your saying dont expect anything to be wrong regardless how old they are. 80,000 miles is the magic number and the oil film doesnt mean anything.

:hmm:

What if I told you... The escalade IS a truck? :histeric:

MRC dampers can absolutely wear out and need replacement. Leaks and electronic issues are not the only modes of failure.

GM considers some seepage as normal. That's why if your vehicle is under warranty for example and you show them the seepage, they will not replace it. Now if it's obviously leaking oil, dripping all the way down the whole shock then it's not good anymore. The 80k miles may or may not be your magic number but that is the maximum these MRC will last. You may have less.

If it not leaking enough, squirt a little oil on them, drive for a week, then take to the dealer..
