What does possible allocation mean? New orders?
Could get allocation, might not. Depends what Cadillac decides to bless us with. Allocation is used to fill sold orders.

So 1/19 allocations will be last of 2023s and allocations for 2924s will start on 2/9. Do I have that right?
Correct but I'd say nothing 100 percent concrete.

Does this information change or invalidate previous info about 2023 Lyriq may orders becoming 2024 models?
We said all along that a small number of 23's might get produced. Sounds like it is happening.

So I'm envisioning all us May folk pinging the chatbot all day this Thursday. Maybe that 'dealer submitted, Cadillac not accepted' status will finally change - good or bad.
If the dealers get the allocations Thursday, I wonder how long before they assign them to an 1100 order.

But yeah, it won’t keep me from checking several hundred times a day

Creates an interesting problem. If you’re high enough on dealers list to get a 2023 allocation, do you want it or wait a month for a 2024 one ? 2024 pricing and options will figure into the answer
I've wondered the same thing for sure. For me, the wind has kinda been knocked out of the sail with this car. I would have jumped at the chance to get a Debut from the Sep 2021 ordering, but Cadillac website crash and limited active dealers in the system extinguished that. Then when orders re-opened in May (2022), expecting to get a 2023 RWD around Halloween / Thanksgiving 2022 seemed great (not much later than that of Summer for Debut). The $3K needless price hike for same thing wasn't great to stomach, but ok - the world was still bouncing back. At that time, I was not thinking about 2024 MY at all, and imagining how much enjoyment of the car I'd have long before there would be any model year change (presumably mid-2023 calendar year).

But now, if 2024 MY switch is uncharacteristically pulled-up and is literally a month away, I'm crossing my fingers that Cadillac doesn't hose us again. It seems that getting a 2023 now would actually be unfortunate. Cadillac has said 2024 will be a 'different car' - whatever that means. If I was a Debut person who hadn't got my car yet, I'd be super bummed that 2024 MY was weeks away. There are certain goodies that are expected to be coming which weren't ready for 2023, and surely some things we still don't know. So I hope Cadillac holds the line on price for what we were 'sold' for the 2023's, and we are at the front of the line to be rolled into the 2024's. Actually hoping at this point my dealer doesn't get a 2023 allocation.

Well I guess that would be up to the dealer.
I think there is more to it than that. Dealers have their allocations and such, but overall Cadillac production will need to accommodate that who knows 50K (total guess) additional 2024 pre-orders that have been racked up. Based on the whole allocation scheme, my dealer in general could still be sometime off from seeing any Lyriqs as they go to other higher volume dealers first. The whole thing is such a kluge.

Agreed. What I meant is the ability to defer from a 2023 without loosing your place in line.

I am going to stick with my May 18th order for my 2023 AWD. I am not willing to jump up a trim level for the optional rear view camera and 2nd row HVAC. 22" rims are not my choice.
Unless you received an allocation last week, you will not be receiving a 2023 AWD. So you will have to make some choice, when your dealer contacts you to switch to 2024 model in the coming days / weeks. Unless something changes - but that is what we understand as of now.
