Lyriq trailer mode?

I had the dealership install the OEM trailer hitch when I bought the car. I have an 8' cargo trailer for our Catrikes and riding gear. The Lyriq tows beautifully! And the trailer lights are all working as they should.

However, I've noticed the blind spot collision lights on the left and right mirrors blinking constantly when towing. I can only assume the car is picking up the trailer with the rear sensors. But I thought there was some sort of "trailer mode", which when you plug in the trailer, changes the behavior of some of the car's settings to accommodate the fact that there's a trailer tailgating you!

Now I can't find any mention of it in the manual or in my cursory searches online. And no "trailer mode" in the infotainment screens that I can see. I don't know if the car KNOWS I have a trailer hooked up or not. Actually, there was one place; in the turn signal section, it said something like a brief press on the signal stalk would cause the blinkers to flash 3 times, but 6 times with a trailer attached. Mine are only blinking 3 times with the trailer...

There is a trailer mode app. If you look at your infotainment screen settings under installed apps you will see it in there but set to disabled. Not sure how to enable.
Okay, I do see that. The app is in the Settings > Apps list, but the icon is grayed out and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do with it. Doesn't matter if the trailer is plugged in or not.

Seems like I read somewhere you have to have the trailer package installed to activate it.
I did purchase the GM trailer package for the Lyriq and the dealership installed it prior to delivery. The question is; did they install it correctly? Or perhaps forget to "plug it in" or "enable it in the software" or something silly like that. The fact that the trailer lights are working correctly leads me to believe it's at least mostly connected...

I've been alerted to two updates since I took delivery last month. I've allowed both to install. No, when I have the trailer attached and I'm in reverse, the camera view is the same as normal. I can still see my hitch and have been able to back up to the trailer without issue. There's supposed to be a different 'trailer view"?

There is a "look down" vew labeled "Trailer" that appeared at the bottom of the camera view list after one of the later OTAs that I received--don't remember which one it was. Although I wouldn't expect that to solve your issue, it's possible that update did other things that I'm not aware of. I don't have a trailer, have only used hitch receiver for a bike hitch-rack so far and haven't noticed the issue that you mention above.

I just checked, and I do have a "Trailer" view on the reverse camera. It didn't include any guidelines, but I also didn't have a trailer connected just now. Is this Trailer view available on everyone's Lyriq, or will that only show up when the trailer package is installed?

If it's only there with a trailer package, then that begs the question as to why I have the other weirdness going on when I'm towing...

I installed the curt hitch and the plug in trailer wiring harnesses from them as well. And their wire holder and hitch plug cover. Great company and great quality parts. Took me about an hour and a half to install it all. If you do it, good luck cutting the skid plate thing Their diagram on what and where to cut is very outdated and no longer applicable to the new version. And you will now block the foot open sensor but it somehow still works funny enough.
