Called Lund Performance this a.m. and asked about the progress of their supercharger project. They are indicating 4-5 weeks out, however, I think this is the Mod I "need" for my V. I plan to purchase a kit and will likely drive there and have it installed by their crew. I'll keep you all posted here.

Curious who else intends to Supercharge their V, and what systems/manufacturers they would prefer should they develop a product for our cars. In my opinion, the product must fit under the hood, and be totally stealth in my Badillac.:lildevil:

But of course it will eliminate (or negate) my warranty. That really isn't a concern for me, however. Warranties are great, don't get me wrong, but in the ultimate pursuit of performance they always fall by the wayside...

Although I don't plan on putting a blower on my V, let me put my 2¢ in.

The Eaton supercharger on my Buick Ultra has 100,000 miles on it and it still makes that old boat jump. I learned about torque steering with that car.

From the outside, the hood on my Ultra looks just like the hood on a PA except for the emblem. I wonder about the cross brace in your V - that may obstruct the blower.

I'd be interested to see where they intend to put the thing without a new hood, since the engine bay is VERY tight for space.

As for the charger, I am already planning on head/cam which will be fairly close in hp gain to the charger...so to do both I'd be sitting on 650+ at the crank with everything else (air, headers, etc). Space considerations (and time) were the main reason I decided on head/cam instead of holding out for a charger. Not both are really necessary (or worth 18-20k) but show us some photos of the design, I'm certainly interested.

I assume Vortech will have something done but talking to an LS6 guy he says their stuff is pretty junky in comparison to the other companies.

hmm isn't that it? And they say it's not done yet?

Looks done to me. :halo:

150hp but what is the price...that's what it comes down to I guess.

I see suspicious Vortech printing on those pipes, scary.

Hopefully they won't be stingy and they'll actually ship the unit out, if it's not too ridiculous I'll see if my shop will consider putting it in.

Okay, as an update. That charger has no intercooler. The V is heavy and with no cooling you won't get more than 4-5lbs of boost. Corvette Vortech kits are reputed to be lousy. I showed that to my guy when I went into the shop today and he was very skeptical.

Unless that kit is around $4-5k I wouldn't touch it. I am getting a custom ATI fitting within the coming week or two by East Coast Superchargers, a place local to me in NJ. ATI is cooled and will basically give you more potential boost than your engine can handle without a new bottom end. You can take the car beyond 700+ if you wanted to get into $6k in bottom end work (really dumb on a brand new car, drive it for a year then maybe). The beauty of it is...you aren't cracking the engine, you don't get that loud head/cam sound. Much more of a sleeper.

I will get more specifics soon, but honestly don't waste your money, if there is a decent quality shop nearby I can probably hook you up with the V kit they will be fabricating for me. They also may use the f-body kit which installs below and is not easily visible, so it looks much closer to stock. Cost installed through ECS is $9600. Price for just the kit, not sure.
Or you can wait till another company comes up with an out-of-the-box cooled kit, but the guy at ECS said you can have some serious problems without an intercooler on a car that heavy (more drag) running boost on an LS6 engine.

Good input.

I spoke with one of the guys from Lund today and he said one of the holdups is getting the aftercooler fabrication completed. This will be offered as an option. I understand where your guy is coming from - and to be honest - would love it if there were some magic way to install a Magnacharger or something with an awesome reputation - but hey, these guys seem to be first on the block.

I had a Vortech S/C on a previous vehicle and had no trouble - without any sort of inner or after cooler...but that was a different animal altogether.

Appreciate the input none the less...

A couple more things I just remembered that he said:

Vortech makes you tap into the oilpan which is a headache, and he has had performance and repair issues with the 'Vette kit. He did say the f-body kits are just fine, but that the 'Vette one, for whatever reason, is nothing but problems.

If Lund is doing a cooler, it becomes a much better option that's for sure.

In terms of Magna vs. ATI (there was one of each sitting next to each other at ECS...both Z06s) the Magna costs $1k more installed because you need a new hood, not even sure how that would fit on the V at all without some serious lumping going on. The Magna has more low end torque, I saw 2 dyno graphs for comparison) but the ATI will beat it out at around 4k RPM. The ATI offers more total ponies as well, Magna is limited in how far it can go. The low end torque is nice for certain things, he said at 2500rpm the Magna would walk the ATI, and it'd take the ATI a bit to catch up. As a testimonial, all he installed was Magna and ATI, no other kits.

Just some food for thought, after seeing all the crap they had at the ECS garage my head was spinning. I was just glad I dyno'ed above 330 ;)

I noticed that no one has mentioned Lingenfelter. The company (sans John Lingenfelter, who recently passed away in a drag racing accident) has an excellent reputation for delivering what they promise. Ever notice that most articles on tuners show that their claims are wildly optimistic? That never seems to be the case with LPE packages. Last time I checked, they said that they were currently working on packages for both the GTO and CTS-V. (it was about one month ago, and they were waiting for their first victi...I mean donor) It might be worth a phone call to see where they are with their package. Check out there video of a LPE 'vette on the racetrack. WWW.lingenfelter.com look under LPE in media and videos. Some great articles and video clips. The racetrack footage sounds and looks awesome. The drag race scene is pretty badass as well. It could be worth the wait. Just MHO.

If I had a V, I'd love to have an LPE "small block" 427 in it... "Um, since you've got FI, how about giving me...1 and the jump? Sure, I'll pop my hood."

I can work something out with ECS if you guys wanted to get their ATI kit shipped out perhaps (once it's made). They will probably do group discounts, I'll get Chris to start coming on here. :)

ATI will basically give anyone the ability to have a 700+ hp V. The Vortech and Magna are limited by their max boost/performance. 'Nuff said, as far as I am concerned, since they are all around the same price, and POSSIBLY the ATI kit will be mountable under the hoses/etc so you won't even see it at quick glance.

hmm...looks like Lund has 2 superchargers. Both use a photo from the V's engine bay but only one is labelled for the V. I wonder which engine the other supercharger is for? 3.2 or 3.6?

http://www.lundcadillac.com/AccessoriesALL.cfm?type=performance&model=CTS

The other is for the 3.6L.

They had a highly modded 3.6L +supercharger putting out 1100hp at the Bonneville salt flats. Last I heard, the production version/pulley ups the 3.6L to about 370hp.
