OK...I been MIA for a while, but a good portion of you long termers may remember me. I have an 80 FWB Coupe that is perfect, but I have a new built up LT1 & 4L60e that is leftover from when I had my 95 Impala. The motor & trans cost me over $4G's & has been sitting in my buddies garage for 3+ years now. My question is...can the motor & trans be worked into my 80 Coupe? I do have the proper dual exhaust crossmember & whatnot.

I think the hardest part would be the wiring... You could run the motor with a aftermaket computer, but the transmission is another thing... maybe now you could find a aftermarket pcm, but it won't be cheap... you could get a different transmission that is not run by the computer and run the motor with a F.A.S.T. or Haltech or one of the many others out there... A 700 4R would give you overdrive , but you would have to do some fabbing to make that cable from the TB to the trans work right...or you could go with a th400... no cable but no overdrive...

Pick up a 94-96 Caprice or Roadmaster to get all your missing parts from. You should be able to score a beat one for under 1K. It will scrap for 200-300, and you will be able to sell lots of parts you don't need.

You will need:
- engine mounts
- full accessories
- engine wiring harness
- PCM (computer)
- fuel tank complete with sender
- fuel lines

Wouldn't the '91 be an easier swap candidate since it came with Chevrolet stuff?
I'm a sentimenltal freak + I really like the Full-size Coupe Theme.
Not really. You would still have to do everything on my list, except for the driver's side motor mount.
Another project about to be green-lighted.
Sorry I can't chime in on the technicals, Wheelman, but I wanted to compliment you on how nice your '80 looks with those wide whitewalls and wires. I can remember back when they were on your 70s Fleetwood, but they really pop on the FWBC. :D
Big thanks...My cousin's ten years older than me & constantly argues how they're not "era-correct", but I like the look.
