I have a 2010 CTS Wagon Premium Package with the FE3 sport suspension (Nivomats in the rear) and 19" wheels. The car is fantastic. One issue I can't handle is the wheel well gap in the rear. The front almost looks lowered. The rear has an additional 7/8" gap compared to the front. I would like to lower just the rear and I am looking for suggestions. I would be happy with 1/2" to 3/4" lower.

1 - Will the Mighty Mouse mod on the Novomats shocks work on the second gen CTS? Will that mod get me the drop in the rear end without new springs?

2 - If I need to get springs to lower the rear....I need suggestions on where to go keeping in mind I would like the same or similar spring rates to retain the stock ride. (if I can't mod the Nivomats, will the FE2 rear shocks perform OK?)

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions - Scott

Scott,

I have a 2010 SportWagon that I will be lowering. I purchased spacers to make the Mightly Mouse mod to the rear Nivomat FE3 shocks. I also purchased Eibach springs from Tire Rack. Once the weather improves in the NE, I plan to spend a weekend with the car.

From my research on the site, both options should work ok.

The Eibach springs are progressive rate springs and the spring rates are a near match to the stock spring rates so I don't expect to see any real degradation in ride quality with the Eibachs. [I put Eibachs on my Lincoln LS Sport and they did not change the ride quality.]

If I get this work done in the next two weeks, I post an update.

Limerockracer - I appreciate the input.

Can you please take pictures of the work you do on the rear end, including the removal of the inside panels? Also, can you measure the ground to fender lip before and after to know what the final drop is on the rear with your vehicle.

I can't wait for your feedback....THANKS!

Scott

haha...I guess not, because I was wondering what the outcome was. I have the same question too - 2011 CTS Wagon FE2 sport suspension with 18's. There appears to be a larger space in the rear compared to the front wheel for spacing. Also, it seems some wheel spacers may be good to push the rears out a bit more too. Anyways, I would like it to look a bit "tighter" but the ride stock and how it feels...OMG - is sweet! I've had lowered Subaru's before and I still have an '04 BMW M3 that handles so precise but you know what? .... I think I would like to take my new CTS wagon AWD up to Canada anyday for Christmas than the M3.

Well, be sure to keep us posted. I have a '11 wagon and although I do not have any current plans to lower it, some pictures might persuade me otherwise. :yup:

Can I tell from my VIN 1G6DP8EV9A0135532 if I have FE2 or FE3 on my 2010 CTS Premium Wagon? I'm also thinking of lowering but doing front and rear. I have 245/45-19 Conti all the way around.

Thanks!

Looking for some adjustable coil-overs for my 2010 Premium Wagon. Haven't found much out there for the wagon, but I'm working on it. Also considering an air ride "bagged" Any suggestions would be appreciated... I will also keep you posted on what I find.

You want to lower the rear and have a "bagged" solution. Well, I guess if the old bag is heavy enough, she might lower the rear end a bit if you toss her in the back. :D :D :D

KPE, your axle back exhaust is welded and not mandrel bent?
