Hey guys and gals. I have a 2008 CTS. There is a loud sound coming from the center consul when I have AC on. It just started. I would describe it as a loud and aggressive clicking. It’s clearly related to the AC since when I turn the AC off, it immediately stops. Please let me know what it is and if I can continue running it without hurting it.

Any way to post the video of it?

It's one of the blend door actuators and with CTS luck, it will probably be the worst of the bunch, the mode door actuator, which requires dash removal if replaced by the dealer. It is possible to unplug it to restore civility to the atmosphere but, you'll lose most of your defrost capability although it will work to some extent I've found.

Here's my thread on the subject, I was about to continue tackling the mode door actuator a couple weeks ago having unbolted the passenger seat and moved it back toward the rear for more room to operate, but received an important invitation and had to button it back up. Since the A/C works fine with it unplugged I'm still in no hurry.
