Loud Pop when powering up Radio ( might be just the back speakers )

anybody know why It might do this

doesn't matter what the volume is, or motor running or off.

faders works fine and the unit sounds good. Just the loud pop ( very loud )

ohya forgot to mention that it is a 1990 Allante

i believe that may be the pop of death.
the capacitors may be on their last leg.

if you are good with a soldering iron you can replace the caps,
also,
you can get them overhauled by BOSE directly - i think they also include new cones,
or for replacement exchanges, no new cones, you can contact allantesource.com.

thanks Stealth, worked like a charm... changed the 16 cap's in the back amps. Now they turn on with almost a fade to what ever volume is set at. Cost about $9 dollars cdn to do 4 amps ( with some extra caps, Bought 10 of each instead of 8...cheaper).

I found guides @ about 3 different sites, very helpfull.:) :)

I know this is an old post but hopefully some of you are still on this forum. A friend just bought an 89 Allante & it has speaker issues. I would like to replace the caps just need to verify which ones. I'm looking at the circuit board and I assume the 8 electrolytic caps(small round cans) on each board. Is that correct? I appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks -Kurt
