Does anyone know how to disable the chime on my 2008 CTS 4 Navigation system? I have adjusted it through the config screen, but the chime is approx 10 times louder than the speaking voice. When I adjust the voice to hear directions, the chime is deafening and VERY startling, especially while driving.

did you try turning down the chime with the Volume knob whiles its chiming

There is a NAV command to disable voice guidance and 'dong' prompts that you can use. You need to go to the NAV command screen in the config setup(forget which tab) and stop the turn prompts and guidance. Scroll through the command screen to find the specific command to do this.

I remember that. It was crazy loud. I don't think there was a way to adjust the volume of just the dong.

NAV command disables the dong prompts and voice guidance if you want. Check the commands in the config screens.

the dong and voice are tied together. I think the complaint is that you cannot change the dong without changing the voice.

The Nav chime isn't tied to the setting for the warning chime that is set via the DIC is it? That has a 'normal' and 'loud' setting.

I have not found the nav ding to be annoying, but almost always have the nav voice off unless in unknown territory.
