A locksmith should be able to make you a key as long as you show proof of ownership of the vehicle. The dealer will also be able to make key. Or you could have the locksmith install a new ignition switch.(eliminating the possibility of someone out there having a key) Hope this helps.
Lost Ignition Key 1988 Eldorado
just bought a police impound 1988 Eldo -- only has a valet key to unlock the steering column -- does not make it crank -- security light is on -- would the proper key have a "chip" -- is there a way to get one cut from the VIN on this old of a car? -- what's the best way to attack this problem? do I need to "reset" some computer?

The dealer can do it as well with the VIN and proof of ownership.
