Hi all,

I've been a Cadillac CTS coupe owner and forum member. I currently own a C6 Corvette and hang out on that forum.

I'm looking to purchase an ATS V Coupe and I want a maxed out sporty version of the car and I'm not sure what the option packages are called.

The cars that I'm interested in are Raven black exterior, red calipers, higher rear spoiler and Recaro seats. I think they also have HUD, lane departure warning, and black wheels.

Is this a specific option package or just various options added in?

These cars are fairly rare on the low mileage used (30,000 miles or less) market and I may have to shop nation wide so I'm just trying to educate myself better before attempting to buy one from across the country.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Theres different option packages for everything really.

The high spoiler comes with the 6k dollar carbon package, but you could also just add that spoiler after the fact as well if you cant find one with that particular option package...theyre actually not that expensive as they arent really carbon lol.

These cars are rare so asking for exact colors and very specific options packages will most likely leave you unable to find a car for a while.

Thanks for the reply.

I did decide that I could add the spoiler and found one for about $275. painted to match. So yeah, I can handle that.

It does look like this may be an extended search, but I will wait for one very close to my specs.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to be flexible with you required options. There just werent that many cars built. About 4k total sedans and coupes.
Performance wise, all these cars are exactly the same. Just silly doodads to pad the price.

Thanks, Slicky. I think I will have to pick the top points I'm interested in and maybe cut some of the others.

However, I did just run across some info that listed a "Carbon Black" option pkg. that may be what I'm looking for but these things are scarce. Still checking to see if that really is an option pkg. offered.

A carbon black package consists of the following:
1. Carbon fiber package
2. Black wheels
3. Black Chrome grill
I think that's it. All of it can be bought separately.

My last car had HUD & a CD player (yea, I’m in my 50s) and swore my next car would have both. And my V has neither. As someone stated, limited production, limited option choices.

Mine has CF package with black wheels, but regular chrome grill.

Yeah ATX V. I know right, I'm 66 and been hot rodding and motorcycling my entire life but like you said all of a sudden CDs are old news.

My '12 CTS coupe had the 40 gig hard drive and pausable radio but even that is gone now. My Vette has a really nice touch screen head unit that uses a USB drive that I load music onto. The Vette also has the HUD which is nice sometimes.

I almost always buy late model used cars whatever I buy. So I always buy the highest optioned version of that car since used cars are generally priced by age and mileage. Also when I get ready to sell the maxed out version will sell quicker. Hence I'm looking for the most highly optioned V I can find.

Yeah, this one may take a little longer to source. One good thing is I live in the DFW area and there are a lot of high end cars that go through this market. I'm also not opposed to buying one a thousand miles from here and driving it home.

So what I'm hearing is that the CF pkg is in addition to the Carbon Black pkg.

Thanks guys. BTW, I've been searching the forum for some of these answers and getting spotty results.

Thanks again.

That's the problem V-Card I'm only wanting a black coupe, red calipers, large spoiler, A8, with Recaros and black wheels. Not really going to budge from black. I might take the bright wheels and I could add the spoiler. But I want the Coupe, the color, the calipers and the Recaros.

I love black cars. I might talk about other colors. Every once in a while I'll even test drive another color, but it won't come home with me unless it's black.

I understand your position. I wanted, waited and found a "fully loaded" black raven coupe (gold calipers). Not sure I got the deal of the century but it only had 926 miles on it so I was willing to pay a little extra.

Yes sir, V-Card. That one is on my saved cars list. I found that one the other day and it's sure a contender.

It's also not that far from me. A nice road trip distance. It's definitely on the short list.

It looks like an honest car. The mileage is acceptable. The other good thing is Cargurus says they have had the car for quite some time, looks like 186 days. They are probably ready to deal. I would want to buy that one for $39,000., but I'd probably pay nearly what they want if it came to it.

My problem is I've got to sell my Vette first. So that makes this kind of a nail biter, waiting to get my car sold while hoping that one doesn't get sold. Oh well, patience.

Absolutely right, Slicky. You can be sure it's an auction car but that doesn't mean it's bad. I'd rather buy one from a Cadillac dealer or at least a major market dealer, but I have bought cars successfully from "Boutique" or specialty used cars dealerships before. These type of mid level private dealerships are becoming more prevalent these days.

As long as the Cadillac warranty is not blocked and the inspection and test drive is good I'd have no problem buying this car.

The clock is ticking on me.

My used ATS-V purchasing experience: I was coming from 2 years of ATS 2L Turbo Premium 6MT sedan ownership (the Pearl White, btw)... and really loving the platform! I had spent the previous ~25 years with finicky 'vintage' Alfa Romeo sports cars (with a couple of older German examples thrown in along the way). The GM 'Alpha' platform (and yes the ironic name hasn't escaped my notice) was/is a godsend in vehicle chassis dynamics/handling... and I equated my lil' 2L Turbo as a 'modern Alfa' successor before Alfa Romeo actually returned to the US market with its Giulia variants.

I bought my 2016 ATS-V 6MT sedan used with 5800 miles on the Odometer in the Spring of 2017 for about 50K (Not too bad at the time). My must haves were split rear seats (must be practical!), manual tranny, Recaro seats, PDR w/Nav, and preferably the CF package! Got those, the slick Vector Blue Metallic paint, the Safron inserts ('all black' interiors are just boring, sorry) and an unwanted sunroof (but I'm short and it doesn't interfere when I'm wearing a helmet). The car is great from a performance standpoint, and it has been very, very reliable for me, and I've tracked it several times. The things I miss though... were those gadgets I initially scoffed at in my 2L Caddy, coming from old, vintage Euro sports cars. The HUD, the better (HID) Intellibeam headlights, blindspot warning indicators and actual security measures. To this day, I can't believe that my $$$ 'luxury sports sedan' does NOT have a friggin' LOCKING GAS CAP! Shameful, Cadillac!!!

So while I luv my ATS-V, and that dang special VBM color, and that wonderful Tremec 6sp manual tranny... there are some options I yearn for, and if I could do it all over again, I might have skipped the example I bought, and waited for a better optioned car.

YMMV

Yes indeed, Renaldo1

I am a firm believer in waiting to get the precise car I want. If while waiting I start getting antsy and begin to settle for less it's always been a mistake. Usually just small things like you are referring to but, nevertheless, you are left wishing you had this or that option.

It really gets frustrating when like now, I've located three cars across the country that would fit the bill for the specs I want. I'm trying to wait to sell my Corvette before making the V purchase but when I see one by one the V's being sold it makes me nervous.

Oh well, if they sell before I get there then that just wasn't the car for me.

I think that with this car, you have to find an acceptable place to settle. Very unlikely to have exactly what you want, especially if it is a long list and at a right price. Some things can be added on later, some things can not.
In my case, I had a very short must have list. Manual and Recaros (except in platinum). Any color except black, with blue and red at the top. I settled on a white one, which was acceptable, but it kinda pings me that I should have held out for my top color choices. Can't really change the color. White is classy, but invisible.
I wish the calipers were red, but I will be painting mine. No biggie. Otherwise, it has everything I want and a bunch of things I don't care about.
