Just out of curiosity, which Cadillac has the longest hood ever? I would have to say the 71-78 Eldorados. I remember me and my buddy looked at a '78 Eldorado Biarritz in a L-M dealership, and with the salesman's permission, we measured the hood w/ a tape measurer. I believe it was 66" long, but it may have been more. Are there any longer hoods?

Yup, I'd guess a '71 Eldo. Paint an "H" on the hood and you could land a helicopter on it. I have a 1971 MotorTrend magazine and the 1971 Eldo is on the cover, the hood has to be the size of two Chevy Sprints!

I have that same article too, in a book called "Cadillac Eldorado Performance Portfolio 1967-78" a very good book, with all the road tests of the '67-78 eldos and their competitors. I think it was like $21.95

I wish I had that book you have. I think my MT is June, 1971. My stepdad bought it and kept it because that book claimed the Olds 442 W-30 was "King of the Road" for 1971, so he ended up ordering a W30 that month because of it!

Terrible one--

do you have an internet site devoted to the restoration of a '76 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible? I saw a site about that once, and someone had the hood off their '76 and they stood it up, and they stood next to it, and the hood was taller than them.

Was it that blue one with the kid in autoshop? Nope, not mine. I have seen the site though. Mine isn't anywhere close to being finished. I'll post a picture if you want. Yes these hoods are MASSIVE I'll have to take a picture like that my own self and show you guys.

Now that you say that, maybe I should make myself a site...

The hood on a 80-92 Brougham is longer than I am tall. I can stretch my arms out, and from finger tip to finger tip, the hood is longer.
That means its atleast 66" long seeing as how I am 5'6".

I read that GM had doubts in the beginning if they could manufacture the hood of the new '67 Eldorado out of one piece of sheet metal. Then they made it slightly longer in '69 to hide the window wipers. I believe the '76 Eldorado was the biggest front wheel drive car ever, so you might want to messure that hood.

I'm not sure the 80-92 hoods should compete, after all, they don't go over the bumper, they stop at the front clip.
