Interesting story here..

But I'm not worried about parts costs due to damage.

This is my first escalade so what worries me is the costs of magnetic shocks, power running boards, cue system, and ac controls due to its integration in the cue system.

Has anyone ever had to replace a whole cue system?

Thanks.

My experience with my 2009 escalade hybrid was the front MRC shocks wears out at about 80k miles and is not covered by the extended warranty. I replaced mine at 80k then at 160k, a $1000 parts and labor. The rear MRC with load leveling was still good at 195k miles. It was the air compressor that needed to be replaced at 180k miles. Other than that it was bulletproof. Surprisingly my fuel pump died at 180k miles. The CUE with less moving parts should be okay.

Evols,
WOW, You really keep it a long time.
I used to do that with all my cars, keep them until I sent them to the junk yard or donated them.
The last decade, I just trade them in.
The last two cars are leases, which is a first for us.
Maybe it is the cost of the technology which is driving our decision not to keep vehicles forever, as it is getting way too costly to replace parts.
No longer can we go to the junk yard to get parts that have failed or be damaged.
Now we just replace the whole car with a brand new car with even newer, better and more costly High Technology every few years.

was that $1000 for all 4 corners of the MRC? if so, thats actually a deal. if not, thats crazy expensive.. haha
No, $1000 only for the fronts because I negotiated the price. Normally about $1200. The rear is even expensive though it was still good at 195k miles.

Mechanical parts usually do have some sort of "undefined" lifetime.....electronics can die within the first 24 hours of runtime OR last forever!!!!

Driving the new 2015i, I thought I would have dramatic change in the ride from my hybrid. Nope, it rode the same in touring mode. Though it felt agile and light in its paces. I think my hybrid was heavier. At 195k miles, I think the hybrid just reached only reached half of its lifetime as when idling, turns itself off.

I had a two hybrid Toyota Prius.....NOTHING ever failed....the only reason I traded was because i like "new stuff".....i think they would have lasted the rest of my driving years!!

Same with my 2005 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD Limited.
I had all the stuff: AWD, ACC, Leather, Fake Wood, Bose, GPS, XM Radio, Trailer Hitch for up to 3500#.
It was riding great and was very reliable.
It would have lasted many more driving years.
At 70 I did not want to wait too long for a new machine.
I also just wanted some of the new stuff.
Made it hard to find a vehicle that had the AWD and ACC and a lot of cargo room as well as a lot of new stuff.
The 2015i Platinum 4WD ESV has it all.
But at great cost.
But the minivan cost $40K and the Platinum cost $100K.

Cue is NOT the radio ICS you are looking at, it is made up of the Radio, HMI, Cluster, media player if it is equipped, radio amplifier and the ICS.

Yes, I can say I have diagnosed each and replaced each one, we have some pretty trick tools to fix these systems.

But the minivan looks like it cost $40k and like every other minivan on the road. Now the Platinum Esky, that is a gorgeous truck and it looks unlike any other SUV on the road. Granted, it cost a lot more than the minivan but when you walk outside to get into that truck there is a special feeling you get when you are stepping into a 100k vehicle and that feeling is worth every penny.

Enjoy your beautiful new ride?

I don't like Prius, but Toyotas are bullet proof.
