My 2011 CTS4 almost didn't start the other day so I put it on a scanner and it came up with a misfire in cylinder 6. Took it to the dealership to get fixed. It has 85k on it. They changed the plugs and coil packs and gave it a tune-up. Got the car back and drove it less than 50 miles. Last night on my way home, alarm bells started sounding, engine light came on. Car went in to limp mode and it said engine was over heating. (It was 29°f out)
We pulled over for a minute. Shut it down. Waited turned it back on and drove the last mile home in limp mode watching temp gauge. Anyone have a clue to what's going on?

We need codes, year of car, mileage and engine.

My thought is it sensed a coolant temp over 268F, that puts in Limp Mode and a good scanner will find it. GM sensors are famous for misreading. What was the gauge showing ?

BTW all of my OBD-II cars all have $12 mini BT dongles and I have Torque Pro on my cell phone. Do not drain the battery.

How did we get two threads ?
