my lift gate was repaired in March of 2019 at Cadillac in Lake Wales Florida new module was installed. Now little over a year same problem.
not sure If this was caused by the water drainage issues- is this is the case Not sure why Cadillac Service would not fix the root cause. Anyone having this issue after a repair was done?

There are several issues with lift gate operation. Water is the big, expensive problem. The outside touch panel is a generic GM piece of crap which fails every three years or so.

What exactly is your not doing? Not responding to the inside button, the key fob, the external touch panel?

Thanks Jack. It is not responding to all three modes of opening the lift gate. Really makes me angry because it was just fixed March 2019. When I try to open the from either the button inside vehicle, key fob or the latch on the truck area the back light flash once and nothing happens. Thanks again for responding

First thought is that the door switch is in the off position. Check that.

Here are the instructions from your owners manual for manual ops of the lift gate.

Manual Operation of Power Liftgate
To change the liftgate to manual operation, turn the mode switch to the OFF position. With the power liftgate disabled and all of the doors unlocked, the liftgate can be manually opened and closed. Manual efforts of a vehicle equipped with a power liftgate will be higher than a standard non-power liftgate. To open the liftgate, press the touchpad on the handle on the outside of the liftgate, and lift the gate open. To close the liftgate, use the pull cup to lower the liftgate and close. With the power liftgate disabled, the liftgate electric latch will still power latch once contact is made with the striker. Always close the liftgate before driving. If the RKE button is pressed while power operation is disabled, the turn signals flash and the liftgate will not move. The liftgate has an electric latch. If the battery is disconnected or has low voltage, the liftgate will not open. The liftgate will resume operation when the battery is reconnected and charged.

But what is the emergency opening procedure when the cheap POS touchpad fails, which it does every three years?

Hi ! all
went thru all the same problems with rear gate. 2014 SRX Found control panel sitting in water . Lift the spare tire cover and look back towards bumper inside control sits right there. Brought an aftermarket unit came encased in ruber plugged in and reprogramed computer and all is well. Drilled 2 holes right over mufflers and all is dry . Water was running down seal of rear door. Yes I crawled inside and poked thru and opened the rear latch.

Ours did that as well, turned out to be the flooded controller issue. Along with a failed liftmotor/pump due to rust and corrosion, the foam that surrounds the pump acts like a sponge. $700 in parts from Amazon and programing for the new controller and all is well. I keep a roll of paper towels in my spare tire well in the hopes of soaking up any water that gets in again. Fwiw our symptom was the rear hatch would open on its on every now an then until finally it would not do anything except flash the lights when a button was hit to open it.

Ok i went and looked at mine, i dont have the spare tire option but just a storage area. Mine is dry, but why not simply drill some drain holes in the floor? you can primer them so they dont rust, there is some sort of shield between the gas tank and floor so unless you are a complete clutz you should be fine - seems like cheap insurance to me - or am i wrong? one could also rotate them 90 degrees as well
