Just wondering if anyone has pursued a lemon law case against GM on the SRX. If so, how long did it take and were you happy with the outcome?

Sorry for your frustrations. There are a lot of folks on this forum who may be able to help or forward advice. Are you sure you our out of options? I know my Caddy dealer and Cadillac wants to make it right!

I have had my SRX for 18 mos and it has been at the dealer 19 times for repairs. Let alone for each time it went in, it took anywhere from two to seven days to repair. I should not have to have a brand new SUV in the shop for that many times and for things that should have been inspected prior to coming off the dealer's lot. It too much of a hassel for a "brand new" SUV.

Do a search under "California Lemon Law" and you will find a few lawyers that specialize in just doing the lemon law. Most will take your case free if you consult them and if they feel you have a case.

California has the most liberal Lemon laws so find out your rights

Remember to get satisfaction from just about any lemon law, you must have a significant problem that you took to the dealer X number of times in Y number of days and they could NOT solve it. Or the vehicle has to be substantially undrivable/unavailable to you for a some very high percentage of the time.

In my case, Cadillac and its local dealer were repeatedly unable to fixing a cruise control problem (actually, it's a defect on ALL SRX's). Soon after hiring a good lemon law attorney, Cadillac capitulated and sent a unexpectedly large settlement check! Remember that lemon law attorneys are state-specific. The following is the case with nearly all the 2004 models and their cruise controls (not sure if they've fixed it in more recent builds):

1. Set your speed (e.g. @55 mph)
2. Step on the accelerator to a higher speed (e.g. @60 mph)
3. Hit the 'set' again.

At this point, the CC is supposed to lock your speed at the new, higher setting (i.e. 60 mph in my example), but it does not. The vehicle drifts back to 55 mph. Turns out that this was a known and, after 5 attempts, was not a dealer-servicable defect.

My case was based on the fact that this was a significant defect subject to lemon law protections. I have a back problem and use my CC regularly and frequently on short and long drives. I use the CC (in conjunction with the throttle/accelerator) to accelerate and decelerate the vehicle in routine driving as a necessity. Although my attorney considered the case to be borderline winnable, GM nevertheless did settle the matter to make it go away.

I will only say that both the attorney and I got an amount with 3 zeros--all for a blasted CC! I received over 6 times what I thought was fair because of GM's own stonewalling and incompetence, and because of one hyper-aggressive sue-happy (but experienced) lawyer. If only GM had dealt with me directly and honestly, we probably could have come to a mutually-agreeable remedy without the additional overhead and cost of lawyers. Everytime this happens, all of our vehicles get just a little more expensive! :bigroll:

Congrats. I'm shocked they couldn't fix it as GM must have MILLIONS and MILLIONS of C/C on cars.I'm trying mine tonight. I've noticed something similiar but just blew it off or shut it off and reset it again. BTW, I've had an S2000 and now own a CL-S and the SRX. I was a Honda/Acura guy until I saw and drove the SRX and they had that $10,000 rebate in January. A perfect storm!!
