I have a 2012 Performance and learned the hard way, replacing the rear back up lights is not as easy as it sounds. Removing the assembly and the bulb is the easy part. The bulb was in the socket very tight so I pulled a little harder, then a little harder still. Eventually it pulled out. The LED bulb I purchased to replace the O.E. wouldn't fit as the base was much too wide. Ok, great.. I tried to place the original bulb back in and it cannot be placed back into that socket. The holes the bulb came out of close up after it is removed. It's either some kind of spring clip or a soldered connection. Either way, the bulb came out and it's not going back in. O.E. replacement was purchased from Cadillac for $20. It's the socket/bulb, sold as one unit.

Wow, strange, just yesterday I took out the Reverse bulb to try and replace it with a 50W halogen. I too removed the bulb with the socket and pulled on the bulb to try and remove it, it moved about a 1/4 of inch only. Before I broke it, I tried putting the new bulb directly into the factory plug to see if the leads would fit, turns out the leads were too thick for the plug and ended up breaking one of the pins. Chickened out on pulling the bulb out of the socket and put it back. Reason for wanting to upgrade is to get more light out of the rear. There is another thread on here talking about what bulb will work.
