Hi All,

I have a question on the LCDs displays in my ’87. The ECC display has a bad segment. So I bought one to replace it. All the segments on the replacement work perfect, but the back light does not.

I checked the bulbs and they are fine.

As it all runs through the circuit boards, I’m not sure where to check if there is a broken wire or bad contact. I do get continuity from the bulb base to the black lead coming out of the back of the display as to the center pin on the 3-pin connector at the top right corner. The one in the car which does works measures the same.
I did open it up and did not see anything like corrosion or a broken contact.

Does anyone have an idea of what else to check?

Thanks,
Peter

I am fairly sure that I am using an 87 ECC unit. The part number on the sticker in the one which does not light is the same as the original one in the car.

On the replacement unit other than the backlight, it works fine.
