On the kickdown switch for the tranny on the 472 the orange wire with the black stripe goes to which terminal on the switch. The one towards the front of the car or the one towards the firewall. Took mine out awhile back when I switched carbs and now I'm trying to reinstall it. Are these switches adjustable as far as when they activate? The only way I see is by adjusting the location of the switch so the travel of the control arm is different. How far does the control arm need to travel to activate the switch? halfway? More than halfway? All the way? Any answers appreciated. Especially the wiring the rest I can do by trial and error. Thanks.

The connections don't matter. Either way works. The switch is adjustable. 2 screws on the bracket allow the pivot point to change. Hook an Ohmmeter across the leads while adjusting and you can see just when the connection happens.
